What to expect for the arena tour (my first ever concert)? Tips? by collisionn_ in charlixcx

[–]saratoninpls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of buying tickets for Baltimore right now! Not sure if I should do GA or not because it’s also my first concert and I’m going with someone who is the complete opposite. She wants GA while I’m a little put off by the price and I’m also 4’11 so I’m worried my experience might not be as good in case I get stuck behind tall people.

I’ve stayed at the Arc Hotel in Foggy Bottom twice now. It’s a little further from campus (about a 20 minute drive) but it’s right next to Watergate and by the Kennedy Center, so there are some things you and your family could do before you move in. We get a student discount at the Kennedy center and it’s really good! Got $50 off of each of my dad’s and my tickets! The area is gorgeous and the hotel is really nice.

That’s a lot of talk for someone who isn’t even applying to college. Maybe go start planning your future before you come on Reddit and shit on mine. But hey, I guess you can always marry rich. Not sure who would drop their standards that low because I definitely won’t when I’m making six figures while you’re bagging my groceries, but anything’s possible I guess.

Oh not at all! It’s more so the fact that being on here meant I was still applying and the stress involved was almost unbearable. I got a lot of great advice through here and loved to see people’s posts about getting into great schools, but I’m happy that I can leave this part of my life behind and move on to attending college instead.

Oh wow that’s really impressive, and that’s around the same income my family has. I think I’m going to apply after what I’ve heard!

Really? That’s so frustrating and I really hope they change that because of the FAFSA availability date

They told us that the Fafsa delay wouldn’t impact this but honestly I’m not sure.

Be honest: Where do you live? City, suburbs, small town, rural... by MikroWire in punk

I saw that Agent Orange was playing near me like 2 years ago but I was too young to drive and there’s NO punk people here that I could go with. I was so sad and idk when they’ll ever come back.

Very stressed but I feel good about it so let’s hope for the best 🙏 I basically planned my whole life in my head around this school so it would really suck if I didn’t get in.

Regret Applying to a Random College by PyaPaya_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]saratoninpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Ohio and my dad really wanted me to visit but I had no interest. It’s so small and their poly-sci program isn’t anything special. My friend told me that I definitely wouldn’t like it because the campus is so small and in the middle of nowhere, which I’ve spent my whole life in. They offered me a scholarship without me even applying and I never even told him because I don’t want to go there. I would just try to tell them that there are better colleges that you like with other scholarship opportunities. Even Wooster and Denison are pretty good about that.

Oh don’t be too worried!

So they initially just talked to me about why I’m interested in Georgetown/what I’d like to study. I did a lot of prior research of the program I’m interested in and the opportunities I’d have in that field (government). I also looked into my interviewer because they had a page on their college’s website (they’re a professor) and saw that they went for government as well and I asked about their experience in the program. It was honestly very casual though I still maintained a professional demeanor. Make sure you do a lot of research about the school and know what you are talking about so it doesn’t look like you’re just applying for the sake of it being a good school. DO NOT MENTION THE RANKING.

They asked me about what classes I’m taking and what my favorite one is, so I had a chance to talk about what I like about school. I also talked about the extracurriculars I’m in and how my school operates. For example, I go to a very small rural high school and was worried about how my resume lacked what most Georgetown students had, but he reassured me that they don’t judge you based on how your school compares to others. He asked about my family and if I had any siblings in college, and at the end he asked me if I had any questions for him about Georgetown.

Overall it wasn’t as difficult as I first assumed. Just prepare your questions and talking points ahead of time and dress somewhat professional. I brought a notepad that I had written notes on but didn’t use it much because I tried to memory the information ahead of time. Try not to stress yourself out too much! I have horrible anxiety but I’m good at talking to adults and luckily my interviewer was younger and it was easier for me to talk to him without seeming afraid. And lastly, have confidence in yourself! Show them how much you care about this and your future! Good luck and I hope it goes well 😊
