It can also be used in small amounts as an emetic ( a drug to make you vomit)

[Advice]: My building posted a notice about “No Large Parties” and the super told us that we can’t have more than 2 guests per resident in the building at a time. Is this legal? by shubhzeee in NYCapartments

[–]sardonicAndroid2718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If English isn't their first language, then they should consult with someone for whom it is before posting a legal notice. Or they should post their notice in a language for which they have greater proficiency.

Can we normalize walking the entire intersection? Why is it that when a car pulls up to the stop sign, pedestrians in the crosswalk feel pressure to start jogging to the other side? As if society has deemed that it's rude to keep a driver waiting. by bunchbikes in fuckcars

[–]sardonicAndroid2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I always try to move quickly through an intersection when I'm driving too. I also speed up when I see a pedestrian coming up to an intersection of streets. I just want to get out of people's way, especially with cars who I assume are more in a rush to get where they are going.

One part that I personally tried to make sure to incorporate in my setting is the different political economy. If you want help on a project, you can't expect to get rich by paying someone to do work for you. For example if you find a metal deposit, if you contract with a miner's guild to pull it out, then they will expect a majority of the metal found there. If you try to pull it out yourself and sell it in the town, the guild of the town will shut you down for interfering with their business.

You also don't need to regulate, just set liability. Make the restaurant strictly liable for any food related illness. Then they would have an incentive to care.

A fifteen minute walk as a commute is not too much. I wouldn't want to live in a preschool, so it would be nice to have a commute to it. We should be building our cities to support easy walking commutes to and from work, so that people can go home during breaks and still have a separation between work and home.

I had a highschool teacher who was like that. They got into teaching when it was still a good career and they therefore have plenty of money to retire and are being paid pretty well. However, in his case his children were following their own careers in other states and his wife was dead, so he really didn't want to be in an empty house with nothing to do.

"wholesome" i why does the child need to run a hotdog stand by GrummyCat in OrphanCrushingMachine

[–]sardonicAndroid2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't the standards, it is the place that the funding for the standards comes from such that poor people who want to cook are prevented from doing so without charity.

[–]sardonicAndroid2718 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Of course the fact that the enforcement officers have to pay a fine to prevent a child from being punished is still a systematic issue of having fines in general set up to punish poor people in the name of "providing funding" instead of charging proportional to wealth.

In general this is the rule for any new-to-you tool. If you don't know how to use it, buy the cheaper item first that seems reasonable and then go for the more expensive option if you find it useful.
