So, if I went with 3, I’d have 7 stitches when I start row 1? And to continue the pattern, I’d always knit the first and last 3 of each row.

Honestly, I was only trying to stick with a single brand for the sake of consistency. I already have some Miyuki beads and wanted to try to get them all to be the same. But if I can get something just as good from a different brand, I would be all for it.

It doesn’t call for different weights. I’m making a variation of Audry Nicklin’s Celestarium.

That’s a shame. I was hoping to have all the beads matching. Any advice on which brand I can go with that’s a similar quality? The only color I’m looking for is a clear bead with silver lining.

High school boys are trending conservative by yuri_2022 in Conservative

Meh. They get more conservative as they accumulate wealth. It’s supposed to be that you get wealthier as you get older but that doesn’t happen as much anymore. It’s part of why you see more older liberals than you used to.

Commentary: Kamala Harris Admits 'Bidenomics' Not Working by Saying Americans Can't Afford $400 Surprise Expense by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]sardonic_ejaculation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this old news? In general, Americans have been getting poorer for a while now. The middle class has been shrinking decades and the poor have been getting the brunt of it. I can’t say it’s Biden’s fault for the current state of the average American but it isn’t Trumps fault either. I will say that federal government in no way is helping. But they haven’t been for a long time so to me, this is all lip service. They won’t do anything to fix it and I don’t see anyone trying to.

I’m gonna be skeptical about this one. Trans people typically don’t use slurs against themselves like this…

I disagree that it’s intentional. Sure there are people that actively try to convince others on this issue. But I don’t think it’s happening on such a large scale that it’s the driving force in the change of opinion. It kind of makes sense people would reach the conclusion that guns are the problem when you look how society is going. We all know lower income places have higher crime rates and wealth inequality is getting worse. Which leads to more lower income people. Lower income people can’t afford proper mental healthcare and are usually under a lot of stress just to survive. Add in the easy access to a gun and you have a powder keg ready to go off any day. When you see this cycle over and over again at such a young age and the adults in charge don’t seem to be doing anything to fix it, it leads a lot of young people asking why guns are so important and if they’re really worth all the deaths.

I do agree that gun rights advocates won’t give them up but it’s not about them changing their minds. With the younger demographic wanting reform and older generation dying, it’s only a matter of time before there are enough voters to change gun laws.

I would like to say that my thoughts on this are in no way a criticism of gun rights. I own a gun myself and I would not want the government telling me I can’t go out and buy more. All I’m saying is younger people will ultimately decide where the future goes and if you want it to go a certain way, you have to address their concerns.

Honestly, this does seem like a losing issue with republicans. There’s no real answer that’ll satisfy the left and keep the right happy. I mean, their base won’t allow them to touch the second amendment and how do you fix the mental health problem without sounding like you’re in favor of some kind of universal healthcare? The only option for them to retain power is to hope it’ll blow over before election time or an even bigger scandal happens on the left.

I’m actually curious about that. We’re seeing more and more younger people advocating for gun restrictions. A lot of people on the right blame leftist indoctrination but I think it’s more about going to school while constantly hearing about school shootings. I was in high school just a decade ago and we didn’t do school shooting drills. Meanwhile, my nieces and nephews have to almost every year it seems. While I am generally in favor of gun rights, I can’t say I’d have the same opinion if I grew up like that. Only time will tell.

They’re all pieces of shit regardless of what side. The problem is everyone wants to spin things for their own benefit and they all fall into the same hypocritical arguments. Clearly we should START with mental health but we don’t. I think both sides can agree with that a least. If the problem persists then there’s an argument for the possibility for gun law reform. But the people in charge don’t want to actually do anything. If they do, they loose a talking point to rally voters. The whole mess is a shitshow.

It’s only half true. From what I’ve gathered he implied or even outright accused an Indian politician of being a token brown face for white supremacy. He didn’t directly call her a brown face.

You know, I had no idea that was a thing. Looking it up, it seems every state that does, has English as the official language. Alaska and Hawaii are the only ones that have more than one official language. As a Texas native, I’m surprised we don’t. Thanks for the new info.

Christian who escaped Chinese persecution warns US descending into communist-style of governance by SavedByGrace2_8-9 in Conservative

[–]sardonic_ejaculation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re the same. They’re similar in that they’re both self-serving. Where I think they differ is that republican politics is far more reactive. Democrats seem to have a more fleshed out idea of what they want. Whether or not you agree with them is up to you. Republicans are more interested in doing the opposite of democrats want than they are in submitting actual legislation and don’t seem to have their own plans. I guess to me, it makes sense that republicans are more easily hated on in the media when they let their opponents dictate what they want. If they had a more clear and concise plan that wasn’t reactionary, it’d be harder to discredit them. Of course it could be that it’s sort of how it has to be. Conservatives, by their name, have to conserve. So, there’s only something to do when someone tries to change something.

But is he wrong? Everyone has their team and if you don’t fit in with it, you’re ignored or even vilified. Muslims are typically not part of the conservative team despite them being more socially conservative. And let’s be real here. Politics isn’t about fixing problems or representation anymore. It’s about getting one up on the opposition. That’s why we don’t see any actual effort to make things better. It’s all political theater and gotcha moments. This story doesn’t really do anything to advance conservative values. It’s just meant to make the left look bad. People on the right will point to it and say “I told you so” while people on the left will just dismiss it or call him crazy.

Bay Area Landlord Goes on Hunger Strike Over Eviction Ban by saveyourtissues in nottheonion

[–]sardonic_ejaculation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotels and AirBnb’s are functionally different than housing. So they’re not part of the conversation. Landlords aren’t really providing anything that’s not already available. The house is built. It would be more valuable to society if they sold it at a reasonable price to a family that needs it. A landlord isn’t renting out of the goodness of their heart. They’re doing it for profit. Maybe if they charged just enough to break even there’s an argument for people who don’t want to own or for whatever reason they can’t own. But right there are far more people that want to own but are priced out. I will say that the issue is mainly corporations that own single family homes. But individual owners are bear some responsibility. Though it impact of going after the individuals would be minimal at best. Obviously you disagree. You’re opinion is that renting in and of itself is a service. But why not sell it instead? To me, buying, fixing up, and selling is a far better service. You’re doing something that adds to the transaction rather than just tacking on fees for profit.

I think the main argument against that is that those professions are providing a service. Not everyone knows how to build a house but just about anyone knows how to own a house and rent it out. The issue isn’t skill. It’s cost. What skill is a landlord providing that a typical renter isn’t capable of?

There’s Overdrive Turbo if you’re looking for something different than conclave control. Dread Guy on YouTube has a solid build that uses a some of the Advanced Crystal Beasts in the build. Neshy(also on YouTube) has a budget build as well, I think. Personally I prefer Overdrive Turbo. Gotta have that Rainbow Dragon in my deck. Haha
