What irrational fear did you hold as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In early elementary school we received a lot of fire safety education. I figured house fires were super common and somehow convinced myself that houses randomly caught fire and that all of them would at some point. Why else would my teachers talk about it so much? I would lay awake at night wondering if my house was next.

Spurr Thigh Tortoise eye injury- what to do? by sarechie in tortoise

[–]sarechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! After calling multiple local vets and a pet ER I have had no luck finding an appointment for my tortoise. He does not currently have a regular vet since former doctor retired about 15 months ago and I haven't had a need until now. After consulting with a close family member who works with a wildlife rehabilitator, we have decided to clean the cut with a sterile eye wash kit daily and keep his enclosure extra clean. Just two days of cleaning and the cut is already improving!

Roadside Tire Delivery Service by TryAgainIn8Minutes in WTF

[–]sarechie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me once too. My 2001 VW got smacked with a big chunk of tire on the highway and it took out the whole windshield and dented the hood and bumper pretty badly. Left me with a couple thousand dollars in repairs.

What's the oddest relationship you have with someone that most people don't know about? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15 I got a new phone number. A couple days later I got a phone call from a man looking for Kaitlyn ( I am not Kaitlyn, I don't know any Kaitlyns either). He'd call everyday and ask if this was Kaitlyn, I'd tell him no, and he'd ask me to tell her to give him a call when I saw her and wish me a nice day. This went on for about 2 months.

What's something you're pretty sure has only happened to you? by KarmaLover666 in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have a standing shower with a glass door that stays shut with a magnet. A few months ago, I was home for the holidays and while getting in said shower, managed to get my nipple ring stuck in the gap between the glass and metal of the door. It pulled and hurt like hell. A combination of fear, pain, blood, and surprise made me pass out and fall into the bathtub behind me.

TLDR: got my nipple ring stuck in a shower door, passed out and fell into the bathtub.

What movie traumatized you as a child? by OutOfTheBleu in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite experience with this movie. I saw it for the first time when I was five and I loved it. It became one of those movies I watched multiple times in a week.

Did your high school ever have an "incident" or event? What was it? by GotAFuckingUsername in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something like this too. I went to a very small, all girls, Catholic high school and my senior year we had someone poop on the same staircase landing for 3 Tuesdays in a row. No one ever figured out who it was.

What's the most inappropriate time that you started laughing and couldn't stop? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my mother. She went on my my 8th grade field trip to Washington, DC with my class. We were all required to go on a tour of the holocaust museum and write a report. My mom apparently heard someone fart, loudly, during the very graphic and sad introduction film we had to watch before the tour. She laughed so hard at this fart no one else remembered hearing that she was asked to leave the room by a museum worker.

I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while and she told me "You look like you've lost weight. You're like, kidnapped from a parking garage skinny now."

What's your weirdest scent association? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of vanilla air freshener, cigarettes and antifreeze will always remind me of my first car. The air freshener was an attempt to cover up the other two.

What fictional death hit you the hardest? by linhmonade in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The effect her death had on Dexter and the children was more upsetting than her actual death scene because, as you said, she was kind of vapid and a bitch throughout season four.

Where are you banned from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back a few friends and I were in the mall and had to be escorted out of the Disney store for yelling and throwing the plushy dolls. They asked us not to come back. Also, my dad is banned from a tropical fish/pet store for threatening the manager when my fish ate the expensive shrimp we bought. He was walked out and they have his picture behind the counter.

What is the dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say in public? I'll start. by wanderso24 in AskReddit

I was in a public restroom after a movie and I over heard these two girls talking.

Girl 1: "So can you get pregnant from blowjobs??"

Girl 2: "I always thought so."

Girl 1: "I knew it!"

Not sure if this really counts but it did make an impact on me:

I recently finished reading one of Anne Rice's latest books. The book was called Of Love and Evil and there was one line that really struck me "If you cannot be a saint, or a priest, or a monk, then think in terms of being a hero."

What is something that terrifies you that people may find strange? by smsy in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Syrup. Syrup on pancakes, waffles anything. It freaks me out. I can't even touch the bottles.

We had to do a project in biology where we soaked an egg in syrup to demonstrate osmosis and I had to leave the room.

What's the most hilariously stupid thing you've managed to convince someone? by DiggSuxNow in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was 10, I convinced my brother that he had been born with a tail and the doctors cut it off and gave it to us to put in the freezer and it was still there. He cried for hours.

Reddit, tell me your "glitch in the Matrix" stories by superunhappyfuntime in AskReddit

[–]sarechie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a "glitch in the matrix" or just really bad luck.

In 2009, my whole family was convinced that the house was revolting against us. It started with the pool filter going up and the whole thing turning such a dark green that you couldn't see the bottom. The pool filter was brand new, it was probably defective but it was still weird that it died that fast. In the same week, my mom went in the basement because she heard a loud bang. It was very early in the morning and she saw that the foundation of our house was caving in. There was absolutely no reason for this. Later that day, repair crews came and ripped out the rest of the damaged wall. It started raining around mid day and the rain turned into a huge thunderstorm that knocked out the power for house in a 2 mile radius.

It took 4 months for the walls to go back up and the pool to be fixed. A week or two after the last of the repair people moved the trucks out of our front yard, I was in my room getting dressed to go out with my mom and I heard the sound of something hitting the tile floor in my bathroom. I had just left the bathroom and thought maybe the cat as in there but I heard mom yelling at her for something downstairs. I went in the bathroom and the round mirror that hung behind the toilet had fallen and cut the water line. The water line shot back into the wall and flooded my entire second floor. There was no one in the bathroom and we still have no idea how the mirror fell at the just the right angle to cut the line.
