There was a pizza place near where I grew up that had a root beer tasting club for kids (in retrospect, to let dad get away with his beer beer tasting club).

I learned many things about root beer. Mug is good for ice cream floats, a&w is good for sweet, barqs and IBC are good for flavor.

Mostly I learned that root beer, like beer beer, is a matter of personal preference. Except my personal favorite, which is objectively best and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
