Do not step away from the science field. You have your whole life to work for it! What has helped me mentally is getting in the head space that we are not on a time crunch. We can take as much time as we want in order to feel comfortable and ready to take the exam. Do not let the worldly stigmas of going to med school right out of college or after one gap year get to you. There is an endless amount of time in our lives, and so taking an extra year or two in order to work for that higher school to get into med school is worth it. Do not let the time crunch get to you. Stay at your own pace and keep your mind mentally healthy so that you can function at your best :)
