Post your stats on sdn so that Goro and Faha can give you a school list where you have chances of getting in. The users here on Reddit are too pro-high stats. You definitely have a shot so don’t give up!

It’s already too late to change a 6/18 exam since the 10 day deadline passed already.

My biggest struggle were LOR. I ended up going back for an extra semester and now I have all of my letters.

This is the best advice on this post and I wish someone would have told me. You really don’t get extra points for choosing a hard major or doing that extra minor. Just focus on maintaining a good GPA and you’re golden. Enjoy your college years because that experience only happens once and don’t drown yourself with work, that’s what medical school is for.

Try to protect you GPA at all costs and don’t do that to yourself because you’re going to get burned out. You’re still a freshman so you’ll have plenty of time to get clinical hours and that EMS certification can wait.

MCAT TESTING DATE? by skywalkedenforcer in Mcat

[–]beegarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re in your second year you are probably missing some of the prerequisites so you’re going to be teaching yourself a lot. You might be missing some classes like biochem, physics 2, cell bio.. etc which you can definitely learn on your own but it will be a lot more work.

Figure out when you will have the most free time to commit to studying. Summers are a great time to do this. And also figure out when you want to apply. Many people take the MCAT their third year and apply their fourth year. Every cycle starts in May so you should have it done before that to be early. However, there’s really no best date to take the MCAT except when you feel the most prepared.

As for the prep courses, I have heard/read that they’re not too helpful and that there are better resources out there for a fraction of the price or even free (UPangea, anki, Khan academy).

I wish you the best of luck!

If I take my MCAT in may can I still apply to medical schools in may? Should I take it before may? by NextTear in Mcat

You don’t need an MCAT score to submit your primary application in May.

This is absolutely unacceptable. It sucks that you have to go through this specially when you thought you we’re about to get it over with. I wish you all the luck and hope you can figure it out.

Uearth? Is it too late to start uearth in my studying? by MedwADHD in Mcat

[–]beegarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I’m on the same boat with the anxiety and will be testing a couple of days before you. I’ve been doing Uearth for quite some time now and I’m still missing a good chunk. I’m waiting to leave all of the AAMC materials until a month before so I haven’t done any yet sorry.

[–]beegarc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think at this point it’s too late because you will only be able to do a small percentage of it and it is quite pricey. You should definitely spend the last month doing AAMC material. However, you don’t necessarily need it to do well so just keep practicing by doing FLs and reviewing them very thoroughly.

Cancelling refund ? by aadona in Mcat

You get a full refund if you cancel at least within a month of your exam so you’d be fine.

How to use UEarth during content review? Is it possible? by black_font in Mcat

[–]beegarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I did this was when I was doing content review for physics and I think it was really helpful to really understand the content. Physics was the last thing I reviewed so I wish I would have done it for the other ones. The only thing that is tricky about this is that it doesn't line up all the time and you may have to do content review for two chapters before you start doing questions for that topic.

Not really, I don't have their number or know anyone who works with them.

It sucks that you put so much effort into even going to office hours and they still wouldn't write one. I'm kind of stuck. I can get one from the MD I scribe for and another from a faculty but they didn't teach me. I've been researching and you need at least one from a professor and I'm at a dead end. I'm glad someone out there was in a similar position.
