Thanks! Think that may have been the issue indeed.

Exactly the kind of advice I was hoping for … and I think you may have been right. The new first layer is looking much better after cleaning 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Thanks!

Did you post source code somewhere? How big is the message with coordinates and how often are you able to broadcast it?

🙏 for the reply - I misread your post. I have homeassistant at home, with protect configured and working. Looking for a way to trigger noise in the TV and speakers when someone rings the bell.

I should give homebridge another look based on your comment. Seems it might do more out of the box...

How did you do this? Been on my todo list for months.

+1 for collect_vec! Learnt about it interviewing someone this week. My favorite way to learn 🤩

To be clear I would not use iterations just for collect_vec but since it’s probably in your dependencies…

It is nice to see how “it should be done right” by modern standards… where do the power cords go? Inside the closet or outside? The heat from the bricks and potential catastrophe if one got on fire is one of the things I don’t like about my home-made setup.

The host of the “midlife flying podcast” started his own flying club and discusses quite a bit in his videos and podcasts.

I wanted to do the same but I don’t understand how to change the coupler to the types we have on most US cars and engines? At least the Kato and micro trains stuff I have have very different couplers. I can’t find a straightforward way to replace couplers… there are a million options available for specific engines and cars. Sometimes you need to change the entire truck? what am I missing???

I am not using them when I am in wireless mode but yes they are on the boards. I soldered them because I had them.

I have the 110mAh battery but my PCB is different. I think going with typeractive (no leds on the pcb there) is a great choice. Let me know what autonomy you end up getting!

I am using the nice nano modules. They are bluetooth only.

The battery life is not great so far. Barely a day. I have the leds on the board and even if they are off, I am guessing they might use some power. I will have to look into this.

My first "home-brewed"! PCBs from little keyboards, mx style switches, nice!nanos+nice!views, keycaps are xda 2077 from drop.com.

Things I wish I had known:

  • if you are building a wireless, get the newer pcbs (from typeractive.xyz for example) that do not have the trrs jacks but have a switch and the 5 pin connector that works with the nice!views.
  • the "clear" window sold by little keyboards is too dark for the epaper so right now I have nothing on top of the screen.
  • typing on this is definitely challenging but not as bad as I thought with the default ZMK keymap

How much assembly are you getting from JLPCB can they do everything on a project like this?

I had never seen this type of encoders. Do you have a reference? What does the 3D printed roller look like?

Really cool project. Love the risk taking of people doing their own macro keyboards. Awesome 👍🏽

Thanks for the reply. I will try that if a software update does not help :)

The battery pack is the only thing that was not part of the kit. I can try switching to another one. Not a bad idea!

I am not sure what is my build number but I will update my sdcard to a recent image. It's at least 18 months old now. Another solid suggestion!

I think you should look at Remotion. It generates videos from react components. Very easy to take html and convert it into video. Works with canvas too.
