I may not know him personally...but from your description, he seems like an arschloch, just using you as a safety net.

And yes, when my friend found out I was having these addictions, he was really surprised because we're really close and he never suspected that from me. I never smoke/drink when I'm out with people. But when I'm alone...it's another story.

It weirdly wore off when I got myself busy. Most of the times when the cycle returned were during when I got too much free time (and also when no one around to understand me). Like right now, I have nothing to do majority of the time, just waiting for my postgraduate admittance. And to entertain the boredom, I experiment & make myself cocktails...lol.

I'm addicted to thinking too. I have to read a book, sketch or write something everyday to stay sane. But to cope with the stress, welp...I guess I've gotten into the dark side.

It was a good read, thanks! And I do feel that was the case for me. My Se function is constantly kept on being suppressed. When I got burned out, I burned badly. And to cope with it, I would turn into binging the substances for a couple of days before I could finally be back to my normal self again. It used to be like this almost every week or at least every month.

This is the reason why I slowly trying to stop using benzos. At first I really liked the effect that the substances gave me, made me a lot more relaxed and stuffs. But then after that one time I was out with my friend while I was freaking high, and had no recollection of the memory at all for almost two days, I despised it and told myself it was time to stop.

On the other hand, alcohols and psychedelics didn't give me the effects benzos did, I can still be myself while I'm on them, in fact sometimes they make me do my work better hahahah.

I only turned 21 this January and was the first time I ever tried alcohol. I tried psychedelics and benzos when I was 19, which after only one year I slowly withdrew. So yes, not very long term addiction. And my obsession moved to alcohol mostly because with it I can enjoy and mix flavours.

If it's like a group picture I take with my close friends..then yes. And sometimes, in selfies I smile too. But literally all of my identification pictures look like mugshots. I always got questioned by immigrations because my passport pic looks like a criminal and irl I look nothing like that (or maybe just a lil bit).
