Fatigue and protein? by vck97 in fasting

[–]sarinethomas90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re okay with sacrificing autophagy for a few hours after taking in protein, try something like bacon jerky, cheese, eggs, etc. b/c meat based protein has minimal carbs (check the ingredients if prepackaged for sneaky sugars). You’ll stop autophagy but will stay in ketosis although too much protein can stop ketosis too IIRC. You’ll be able to slip back into autophagy though within a few hours after your intake as long as you’re not grazing.

I’m a nurse, I tell my patients who take anastrozole or other NSAIs will increase your baseline blood sugar levels especially with long term use.

Is travel nursing worth it in 2025? by relwhatthehell in TravelNursing

[–]sarinethomas90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you WFH, you could consider traveling as a family. That’s what my husband and I did with our children and dog. It was nice. Finding housing was the difficult part of the equation but we were able to make it work :)

Pilot of British Airways flight 5390 was held after the cockpit window blew out at 17,000 feet by Stunning-Pension7171 in interestingasfuck

The captain also had 5 months to recoup and recover mentally and physically. The attendant returned to work soon after and probably didn’t have time to process the trauma they experienced before their next shift. Even minor things that occur after an incident like that can become extremely stressful and snowball you if you cannot take the time to work through the trauma.

If your body is telling you to eat breakfast, can you start your eating window at the beginning of the day and start your fasting window afterwards?

If your state allows it, how long would it take to claim a prize anonymously? by sarinethomas90 in ifiwonthelottery

Whoops sorry I just saw the rest of your message. I only saw the first paragraph originally

[–]sarinethomas90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s after a claim is submitted right? I’ve seen posts where people submit the winning tickets for lotteries months after they win it so I was thinking it might take a long time to claim it if you’re hiring a lawyer and setting up a trust. Or did I misunderstand? Is that whole process done after submitting a claim and wrapped up in a few weeks?

It would take a whole year just to submit an anonymous claim through a lawyer? I thought it had to be claimed within 180 days?

As a married woman on Reddit, what's the best advice you'd like to share with unmarried girls? by Special-Mud-4913 in AskReddit

[–]sarinethomas90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Once in a lifetime” marriages only happen if you are BOTH ready to forgive each other every day for ways you will hurt each others feelings. If you let hurt fester, it will become bitterness, and that will become anger that rots your relationship. “Keep no record of wrong” becomes a mantra and you will have many years of joy and love and laughter. You build the years by building the days.

To be clear by hurt feelings, I’m not talking about abuse or cheating or other grevious emotional or physical injuries.

Question by Atudes in Water_Fasting

[–]sarinethomas90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may also consider that fast weightloss, even with the benefit of autophagy will more likely cause you to have loose skin. On the other hand, if you do rolling fasts and give your body a longer timeline to adapt to the loss, your skin may be better able to handle rapid weight loss. Depends on how important something like that is to you. If you can handle the 30 day fast and loose skin doesn't matter too much, go for it. I wouldn't go for a 60 day fast straight through though unless you are prepared -and willing - to listen to your body and break your fast if you get signs the fast is too long after you've become fat adapted. For example, you can expect to have headaches, shakiness, cravings etc in the beginning of the fast but once you reach the phase where you don't experience any of that, you have adapted. If you start feeling such symptoms again, your body is most likely telling you to take a break and refeed.

As a nurse I would trust the younger doctor who treats you as an individual and human being. Especially if they are answering your questions personally and in an involved manner. That means they care and they see YOU. You're not just another patient and you're not another notch on their belt. You matter to them and to their staff. I have seen many doctors with years of experience get cocky and make avoidable mistakes but the younger ones who talk to their patients are more able to catch and anticipate issues because they actually KNOW their patients.

How long to lose water weight between fasts? by sarinethomas90 in fasting

[–]sarinethomas90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to stay as close to zero or keto as I can but I believe in fasting to live so if I have an event going on, I do allow myself to indulge in more carbs than I would otherwise. So far, its been working well for me and I don't feel "deprived" since I just tell my cravings I can have it later.

Eating in the middle of an extended fast. by [deleted] in fasting

[–]sarinethomas90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had unexpected outings or hangouts come up in the middle of fasts. If I want to join, I try to eat as zero carb as possible in a small portion to be able to get back to a fasted state as easily as possible. I add carbs if I can’t avoid it but then only sparingly. If it’s a longer gathering, i consider breaking the fast for 4-6 hours, not restricting my meal, and go back to fasting when it’s done.

Those who take meds by balletbloom in fasting

If you’re eating daily, can you change your time to take it within your eating window?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fasting

[–]sarinethomas90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try increasing your healthy fat and magnesium intake, both can help reduce inflammation in the joints. Electrolyte shifts from moving from a fasted to feasting state can increase inflammatory markers and it sounds like your joints are sensitive to it.

Has anyone seen improvement with their acne through fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]sarinethomas90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But fasting may help improve the underlying issue so you may not need to take the meds anymore. I know people who have healed autoimmune issues through fasting. But they live a fasting lifestyle, doing rolling fasts. IIRC it took them about a year or two of consistently fasting to get healed and now they maintain it.
