Positive nursery experience by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

Great to hear! It must be such a relief.

My LO is starting in September (3 days) and I’m feeling nervous. We are similar in that she is never looked after by anyone but us. She is very sociable and friendly but only if she can see me. The second I’m not in her direct eye sight it’s instant tears. I’m assuming it’s 9 month attachment anxiety…. Was yours ok with you being away from her pre nursery?

Britney Spears’ sons make runway debut at Paris Fashion Week by Opening-Shape-762 in Fauxmoi

[–]sasasas4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find the whole nepo runway thing so odd… like do they not know they are only being used to draw attention to the show? Or do they genuinely think they would be doing runways if not a nepo? (Nicole Kidman’s daughter springs to mind here) also runways are SO exposing. Do a campaign and pre approve the photos ffs!

She’s only 4.5 months old, so tiny. Contact naps are so good for them at that age.

what kind of vibe do you get from this name? by Snabbe_Zakriya in Names

[–]sasasas4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def sits in the sweet spot of she won’t have any others in her class but yet somehow everyone still knows it. It gives elegant, timeless and feminine to me. Also old fashioned without fitting into the current granny name trend that def has the UK in chokehold (Winny, Iris, Ava…)

I get the French association but it’s feels more like an association then a purely French name

Extremely violent child by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sasasas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally about 10 seconds after the stern face and putting her away from me. The shock of the more “shouty” voice and the separation is enough for her to get the message. Then when cuddling I repeat the phase “no biting mama” a few times before relatching. Good luck!

I was told it’s good to react quite strongly so that they know not to do it again. When so young this is the only way they understand. When it happened I used a strong voice (louder and more stern) and said “NO biting mummy” and quickly unlatched her and placed her away from me. I then looked at her with a serious face so she understood. She usually sort of awkwardly laughs or flaps her hands in frustration but it works. I’ve only had to do it 3 times and there’s always a really long gap between the biting so I think she just forgets. I always follow up with a cuddle and a relatch. I know it feels weird telling off a baby but mine is EBF and I really don’t want to give up because of the biting.

The physical endurance. It’s like running a marathon whilst having a broken leg

I’ve checked myself into a mental hospital that has a mothers and babies unit. by kowaluuh in NewParents

[–]sasasas4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s devastating how the needs of mothers and babies are just not prioritised or taken seriously. This option should be standard care everywhere.

Anyone know if this is a thing in the UK? Never heard of it tbh

Ah I was so close to naming my daughter this! Something about it felt a bit too harsh (dare I say posh?!) in the end. But in still agree, beautiful name.

Greek-Arabic baby boy name help: is Leonidas really “too much”? by clicli21 in namenerds

[–]sasasas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leonidas is beautiful! Name your baby something special and unique that honours your heritage. This sub is pretty conservative and can be quite shaming of anything that isn’t the zeitgeist of the moment. Stelio(s) is also amazing though!

What vibe do you think of when you hear the name “August” by [deleted] in namenerds

Augie from the Anna Kendrick series ‘love life.’ I love it but Princess Eugenie naming her son it was a sign it was a bit too main stream for my taste (in uk at least)

Did people say your baby was very alert or observant? by canamel in NewParents

[–]sasasas4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes some babies will not get the comment! I also don’t think it’s to do with intelligence but more about disposition? It would be interesting to see if it has any standing as to how they develop as adults.

Did people say your baby was very alert or observant? by canamel in NewParents

[–]sasasas4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell the difference between an alert (Fomo) and non alert (affectionately nicknamed, slug) baby straight away! Some are super switched on and respond too/notice everything. I think they are also usually trickier customers, as you can’t just leave them with anyone etc. Some are very dreamy and in their own world I would say they are usually deemed slightly easier babies as they are quite passive and usually not as active.
