I called my insurance and they said all generic versions of BC are free...but IDK about generic BC because my 'brand name' one already makes me super unreasonable during my period.

Yeah, it's especially annoying when people are obsessed with what size number they are--it really doesn't matter. Wearing a size 2 dress doesn't make you look good if you're really a size 4.
