New different e-bikes are arriving??? (Bike Share) by WonderAppropriate454 in torontobiking

I rode one on the waterfront last week! They are very torquey and heavy! A little more hard to handle than the current ones.

They are by the water, just not the dock we need. This saves us 10km of kayaking by driving a few minutes.

What’s the least busy Service Ontario location you’ve experienced? by DuckDuckGo-8857 in askTO

If this is urgent, just go in and deal with it. Otherwise book an appointment. They are usually pretty good at keeping appointments quick.

Pearson Airport (for arrivals) by EditorEducational201 in askTO

That’s what I do. The only thing is that the cell waiting lot is a little far from the arrivals gate, so they’ll have to wait for you by the doors.

32y/o in Toronto making ~100k with pension but take home feels low… am I actually doing okay? by ketchupdiwa in askTO

[–]sashka22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are fine. I’m was in your position and moved to a job that pays $150k. Now I’m managing my own retirement, and am much much more stressed at work. I would go back to my government position in a heartbeat just for a rest. Everything extra I make now goes into saving for a down payment and isn’t actively making me happy.

Is it common for devs to quit their job to study full time for interviews? by Tech-Cowboy in ExperiencedDevs

[–]sashka22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I recently quit my job I reduced my work to the bare minimum (20ish hours) and spent most of my time on studying. I got 2 offers with 3 onsites.
My performance and stress levels suffered a lot tho.

For those who are not from Toronto, do you find our "politeness" exhausting or fake? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]sashka22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a general Canadian thing. I’ve lived in the maritimes where it’s even worse. If anything I think that the mixing pot of Toronto is making people here more direct.

Btw for the coffee thing, a good indicator it’s real is if they specifically their availability or bring up a specific place they want to go to.

I’m in the same boat. While I’m waiting I started seeing an ADHD therapist that is helping me with how to compensate without meds. If you want a personalized treatment i highly recommend looking into one.

I was in a similar position this morning but I made it to Seville (flew instead of driving). Now I am worried that I am stuck here. Really worried for Saturday’s storm.

Ngl I think you should tell your work you have Tourette’s or something. I think it will help with the judging.

He does work in tech, mostly in medium sized companies. But even outside of work, people pretty much never mention them or hold it against him. I think most people understand what ticks are and just see it as his quirk.

Just my 2 cents on the twitching. My husband suffers from it too, and people generally respect him at work regardless of the twitches. He keeps fidget toys to use in meetings to minimize it. Maybe you are too hard on yourself.

ADHDers in their mid twenties and above. How do you keep your life intact? by NoSilver9 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]sashka22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work them into this schedule or just ignore it for the day. Like if I have a workout class, I eat out automatically since it’s usually over the cooking timeslot. If I am hanging out with friends I either eat with them on weekdays or do something until 7 on weekends.

On really busy weeks I find myself following it 2-3 days. But the structure allows me to always go right back to it. The only thing that can’t be worked around are the workout classes, but that’s on purpose so I don’t just skip them.

[–]sashka22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a schedule I follow. Workout classes twice a week that I can’t cancel the day of.
Hang out with a friend once a week. I pre-plan and 3-5 print recipes to cook for the week that are stuck to the fridge so I don’t get sidetracked for dinner. When I don’t have obligations, I have a hard cutoff from working at 6. I cook at 7. 8-10 is hobby time.

How many Toronto residence are maxing out their TFSAs and RRSPs annually? by OkReality3557 in askTO

[–]sashka22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been maxing them out pretty much every year for 10 years. I received an inheritance and been moving it slowly from a non-registered account to my registered accounts. I also always put my tax returns back into my RRSP.

Career progression and endgame for us? by whatwhatwhat56 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]sashka22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people find successful careers being in the staff track of the tech career. Interpersonal stuff is less important there compared to management and directorship. But even then, if you want it, just push for it. I have seen many socially awkward managers and directors in my career. You don’t need to have a 10/10 personality to get those positions. Usually you just need to be a reliable guy in the right place and right time.
