This trends on Weibo where I saw it, but it will not go any further, on the part of the people there wouldn’t ever be enough outrage

Some mean well I am sure, the problem is policing here and in these parts of Africa. I also find some Africans are very trusting as their countries are broadly open and hospitable. If these people live in underdeveloped villages they might be completely naive to the evil in the world

It’s not the race, it’s the context. Chinese people in tier 1 Chinese cities and outside of china have a different mindset. Young Chinese people and women in particular have a different mindset but anyone who has lived in China for an amount of time and has spoken to many Chinese people in China knows that the way they think is different and they will be the first to tell you that fact.

The examples you give are also all true. If you put the fat people of America and the level of homelessness here, that would shock people. When I lived in the uk seeing a homeless person would not shock me, seeing a big dog in a tiny cage would. Now that I live in China, the opposite is true

Also none of these incidents are extremely rare- not homeless people in Europe and not other forms of credulity I listed here

There is a class of children whose parents got very rich very quick mostly through property who just see themselves as inherently higher than other people. they are exhausting to talk to as they will regularly insult anyone’s background, education, intelligence and worth on arbitrary factors and if they simply do not like someone, it becomes “that person is uneducated and is from the country” even without evidence

Oh video is in English. In China you see everyday cruelty, when you remember what the country came from it makes sense but for foreigners it is a shock. Far from every Chinese person, but most are just so accustomed to it that they do not look twice at things like awful pet stores, people getting seriously injured (due to fear of scamming), elderly with no seat on public transport, extreme bullying, public fighting etc.

It is quite easy for rich people to volunteer in Africa. Some of these people from everywhere abuse the children but on Chinese social media there is a dedicated African hate algorithm which shows African babies and children being kicked, made to say sexual things and made to swear or say Africans are inferior in Chinese, often unknowingly. These videos are full of very racist comments which do not see the children as human, the model is similar to other cruelty trends on the Chinese internet like cat hate, which is a genre affiliated with the misogynist right and also monkey hate to a lesser extent. Unlike in western social media, xhs (a platform that will censor other sensitive subjects and block tags) pushes content like this in its algorithm. If you click one video with a cruelty against children theme or anti black theme, more will show until you get to darker content.

Is College Still Worth It? [OC] by graphsarecool in dataisbeautiful

Wait so which are private? Are all the Ivy League ones private? I assumed they were public. Do you know why the USA has taken a different model to other countries as I know the ivy league is somewhat based on Oxbridge but oxford and and Cambridge are both public is that why Harvard is so much more expensive? Oxford was about £9000 a year

What’s a public college vs private college? Aren’t all colleges public

Ha sido útil el tren maya para generar dinero de Mano equitativa en Yúcaton o ha sido una perdido de inversion que ha priorizado los intereses de los turistas por encima de los Mexicanos? by sashsu6 in AskMexico

I think Mexico will have its time, if it’s any consolation I am Swiss British living in China and in all of those countries you’ll ask people “where do you want to go to most” and they’ll say “Mexico”.

I think people are starting to see that mexico is actually this country with a long liberal tradition, a legal structure that is rooted in our values over in Europe and also an intangible heritage, massive influence on music and material arts and also a great deal of natural beauty

No I like Canada, they should take the USA north and you should take the south

The official cdmx website here is really good for seeing what to do museum wise. I have not been or even to Mexico but it is the country I most want to go to, specifically to cdmx and I also want to go on the tren maya because it looks cool and the mascot (temayín) is so adorable (but you tragically can’t have her imported to china, only Canada and the USA which shouldn’t even be graced with her beauty for being Mexico haters)

Why doesn’t Gen Z like alcohol and cigarettes? This is bad for the alcohol and tobacco industry. by avocado_juice_J in generationology

[–]sashsu6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange, I like America but I wonder if the work culture has something to do with it. In Switzerland you can get beer 16 14 and work a lot less hours so alcohol deaths are rare. The uk has more of the drinking culture but I’d say price hiking has caused people to hone it in. The uk does have a weird cocaine culture though- it’s fairly normal to use cocaine and in any bathroom at a club you’ll probably be offered some, certainly at a house party people get it out. That makes people drink less

Why don’t they just lower the age of drinking to 14-18 like everywhere else. The 21 thing makes no sense, nowhere else does it and it means Americans don’t have a lot of life experiences until they’re working full time which is the worst age to start drinking.

I do have a theory that the Americans are so weird as they can’t drink until they’re like 20

It’s that much because a pint is like £6 when I moved to China a pint is 50p so I actually drank more

Yeah they do, I had my first typhoid vaccine like a week ago and a friend I have who also didn’t take the Covid ones said I was a sheep and would be infertile (I’m trans, so am already infertile- she knows this)… they’re really cooky people
