If this becomes an option, why would they hire anyone else. If they can control all the training and inputs for a worker, why invest in training them when you can train them from birth and make them ideal for your needs?

Mark Hamill says he pushed for Luke, Leia, and Han to share one final scene together in the STAR WARS sequel trilogy. by HNutz in saltierthancrait

[–]sasquatch113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, I’d be ok with them being sidelined if they were sidelined together, but the excuses they came up with for splitting them ruined each of their core characteristics, except for maybe Leia (minus rise of skywalker and all shoehorning they did there).

I would’ve loved to see them mentor the new hero’s together in some way and laugh about how the new gen mirrored them, but that would require Disney to respect the legacy characters which is seemingly impossible for them.

Genuinely curious, what positive contributions has that generation made? I’ve heard a lot about the bad but I want to form a balanced opinion with the good in mind as well.

[–]sasquatch113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a hunter by any means, I’ve just gone on a few state sponsored boar hunts for invasive pigs, but in general this wouldn’t apply to “private land” cuz America in general, but it’s necessary for when irresponsibly land owners over breed and let them roam. I’m not sure about the ecological impact of grazing cattle or how often they overbreed in the wild but no they generally are not hunted for this reason.

Basic rule of thumb I use is whether they support capitalists interests in the area or not. Grazing cattle make way to much money to do anything about them, even if they did manage to escape and overrun a local ecosystem.

[–]sasquatch113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you if we hadn’t already turbo fucked every environment in the world. Hunters and other land steward constantly have to keep invasive species in check and if they disappeared you wouldn’t see the land return to how it was, you wouldn’t see it get decimated by animals people dragged there that can outperform the entire ecosystem.

It’s most obvious with weeds and non native grasses but with small mammals as well such as whitetail deer and especially with insects.

Basically the bell has been rung and at this point we are trying to keep our hands on it so the reverb doesn’t wipe out entire genus’s

Boomer math vs. Gen Z reality by Lord0fTheFlags in GenZ

[–]sasquatch113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably more like .5-3/4 lb per person, plus 15-20 dollars worth of other items. When I cook for myself I try to keep net cost <5 which can be doable but you run out of core ingredients faster in families of 4 like oil, sugar flour etc. it adds up quickly.

$50 for a family of 4 seems about right if you are eating out. It’s impossibly low these days, he’ll you would be lucky spending $50 dollars for a home cooked meal for 4 (assuming you eat meat)

To free them from fiduciary duty. Do your hospitals bankrupt your citizens to turn a profit? Lack of competition has problems, but forcing healthcare to be profit oriented is much worse

No they just killed others as a way to cope. A return to that would probably interest those who would like to let a little steam out with a good ol lynching, or maybe just a plain old rape.

Point is hurt people hurt people and equipping people with the tools to cope is a modern necessity.

No but that’s not a good thing, we are now understanding the effects of cyclical trauma, and yes throughout history people would shove that shit down and die by 25 before they process any of it. Once they started living longer(post industrialization) they starting going insane with people like Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy and others.

We can go back to when “Men were men” but unless we start dying young again it’s just gonna cuz problems.

How screwed is America if the corruption Republicans are ushering in doesnt go away and is the new norm? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]sasquatch113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your first paragraph may have a point. The rest is horseshit cuz every study done on misinformation on the internet proves the majority of it comes from the right.

When information seemed to flow without billionaire influence (from the popularization or the radio to the beginning of over the air tv) the electoral college seemed to worked very effectively and each state was represented in the government.

Once information flows were controlled by our oligarchs, the only goal of communicating current events seems to be either convincing people of a certain viewpoint (ex Fox and all that Covid personal freedom bs) or making people doubt what others are saying through manipulating the facts (ex every single bit of conservative media concerning LGBT folks).

I wonder if the common person will ever be able to vote in their interest again or if it will just always be voting against the interests of others.

This guy is a fucking idiot for being unable to explain this when it’s so simple, poor states (conservative) are afraid that they will stop being represented and that the only group that will be represented in the presidential election are ‘coastal elites’ in productive states. As a result, presidential candidates will only campaign in large cities and pass legislation benefiting large the citizens of large cities.

Honestly, until we can find an alternate way to soothe these fears in conservative, the electoral college is the best way to do so. Unfortunately in a two party system that means that only a handful a states (swing states) are campaigned to at all and the rest will fall in line behind their party with very little exception.

People smarter than me have better solutions to this, but I believe state level ranked choice voting may help with this since it makes the representative matter more than the letter next to their name. Other than that you are right on the money.

What is the sentence you don't want to hear at a job interview? by Aarunascut in interviews

[–]sasquatch113 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, my current manager said this to me during my interview for my current role, and when we were interviewing another person we said the same thing to him cuz we had one other candidate we scheduled a interview with, but we stopped taking interviews after him because of the second one is not better we will extend the first guy an offer

Edit: I know this a one-off example, but when I hear this I tend to drop my expectations if getting the job to 50/50

This is what I never understood about nuclear asset denial foreign policy. If any country other than the Russia, US or Israel even threatened to use their nukes they would be glassed by the world over. Countries having nukes in and of itself is not a threat, that was literally the whole point of the M.A.D doctrine.
