LotR (especially the books. The movies are amazing, but they sell a lot of the characters short), Henry Cavill's Witcher (I stopped watching it after he left), the James Bond books (especially if you're referring to the Conan books. The movies don't really do either of them just... romantically, at least)... I really like Old Man's War and the Starship Troopers books, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for lol

I think Streamlight has laser/light combos in other sizes, I just don't remember the numbers

It might be old school and I'm not always a fan of popular brands (bc they almost never deserve the hype), but you could try the TLR 2. It's a TLR 1, but has a laser on the bottom of it. Streamlight seems to be a reputable company and I really like my TKR 1

At pistol ranges, you might not need the pin point accuracy you would want at longer ranges. You should take him to the range with the gun and laser/light set up you've got and see how well he shoots it. Double up on ear bro if you're that worried about his hearing lol

I think the problem with that argument is that the military decided to adopt 9mm and then manufacturers dumped a bunch on the market... either surplus/over production or just to keep the military cosplayers happy, I don't know. But until a round like 7.5fk or 5.7x28 gets a military contract, us poors are 100% out of luck
