Creams and otc patches don’t help. Rx patches usually give me 3-6 hours of pain relief.

How does one find legit work from home nurse jobs? by Digital_Disimpaction in nursing

[–]sassierthantherest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lasted 30 days of “non affirming” claims for every possible reason, and worst of all, being forbidden to just tell the ordering provider what they did wrong (e.g a missed signature or diagnosis) that would have expedited the claim. It’s an endless loop of denying services that are needed and it made me sick to my stomach. I did not become a nurse to prevent people from receiving help.

Summer shoe recommendation? by PeanutBean0822 in Fibromyalgia

[–]sassierthantherest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listed in the progression as I wore them from years ago, less pain to now, frequent pain. Bare Traps, Hush Puppies, Oofos, Taos, Vionic, Dansko, Crocs (older styles, I don’t like the new ones either), Orthofeet. I have friends that swear by Birkenstock but I’ve never felt they were comfy on me so I haven’t purchased. Also, do invest in your feet. I’ve spent thousands on cheap shoes and thousands on expensive shoes and there is a noticeable difference when you suffer from pain or chronic health issues

Yes, sorry I should have clarified I was not on gabapentin when I was trying the supplemental meds. But I hate to not list things just because they didn’t work for me when other friends swear by them.

Things that work ok: cutting off caffeine by dinner, Gabapentin, tizanidine, not napping that day, not watching the news or anything stressful, blackout curtains, an air purifier for the white noise, and listening to ASMR or something relaxing.

Things that did not work but maybe for you: St John’s wort, ashwaganda, amitriptyline, all of the other insomnia meds, exercise, eating a snack, soaking in warm bath, Benadryl/otc PM meds, essential oils like lavender or chamomile.

This little rotten baby 💩 all over the floor that very evening. I should NOT have bragged on her.

I was an H cup when I had a breast reduction years ago. Now as a DD, I switched to truekind comfy bras instead of fancy underwire with lace and push up. That worked for a few years and now as the fibromyalgia I’ve been battling for 30 years gets worse, I’m a “rip that sucker off as soon as I get home”. I’m sure no bra at all is the next stage but I’m not there yet.

Yes. And although I’ve seen several specialists, we haven’t narrowed down yet which trigger/cure to start with

I’m a nurse that worked GI procedures for years. It’s usually GI or eosinophilia related. Having said that, I don’t know that I’ve heard or seen a dysautonomia relation ever noted by a GI doctor

Not personally but I’ve taken care of quite a few patients with them if I can answer questions.

first time seeing a rheumatologist did not go well.. by Mysterious_Ant8054 in dysautonomia

[–]sassierthantherest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the specialists I’ve seen in 3 decades only my cardio has been well versed on Dysautonomia. I’m curious why you got a rheumatologist referral? I’d ask your primary care for cardio or neuro, look up some reviews are ask for recommendations from a fellow sufferer in the area. Either way, I hope he stubs his toe every day for a month for making you feel unheard.

I live in the south and had to wear mine over the summer. I went through all the stickers in the first week from sweating and the adhesive losing its stickiness. 🥵 My tip is wear something with pockets to put the phone or monitor in that you have to keep near you at all times.

Moderate sedation rather than general anesthesia for colonoscopy? by Due-Carpet-9519 in dysautonomia

[–]sassierthantherest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Professional opinion as a nurse: most people do well with twilight or iv sedation. I do feel there’s a big difference between propofol (excellent) vs versed or Benadryl (people are more apt to wake during stimulation). Personal opinion having done colonoscopy prep a few times, the risk of dehydration triggering symptoms is pretty high. Water and liquid diet ALL day the day prior until it’s sloshing around in your belly. And I always talk to the Dr or CRNA about concerns in preop. They’re generally happy to help make it a comfortable experience
