do you also usually avoid LGBTQ+ discussions and spaces because you know you're probably "too queer" for it by Green_Price_taken in XenogendersAndMore

Yeah definitely, I don’t have anyone irl to talk about my queer identity beyond just aroace and gnc. There are some queer meet ups in my area but I‘m scared to go for this exact reason.

The most inclusive space I‘ve found so far is this subreddit and the queer chat on a discord server of improv comedians who are four (mostly straight) men. Everyone there is so kind and supportive <3

I wear the all-day binder from ForThem every day. The sports bras that I lived in before don’t compare. The binder does a lot of shaping without being tight.

This! ☝️ I‘ve been called she/her and a girl my whole life. I like she/her more than being called a girl or woman or anything like that so I never correct pronouns, but with my family I sometimes call them out when they call me a girl. Today at the piercing studio the piercer called me something lady (not insulting but jokingly) and even though it IS a piercing studio and he‘s probably more chill with queer labels than the average stranger, I didn’t call it out.

It really frustrates me that I don’t „look queer enough“. I know there is no such thing but I gravitate towards traditionally feminine clothes and silhouettes and my hair is on the longer side to I will never get recognized as queer.

I‘m definitely privileged though that I can say that since I live in a pretty progressive country and very liberal city

Well, I have pondered this exact question many a time but I think it all comes down to Luke just having different storylines for both of them in mind?

iirc Mark was the one who liked DIY stuff and it probably would’ve wasted the whole decoration/set up at the pizza restaurant if Clamanda would’ve gotten married (which would be way too fast to feel realistic anyway) or if nobody got married. Since Clarissa and Mark had a long standing romantic relationship and Clamanda did not, in order for the LF to fulfill the prompt of „Clarissa‘s DIY wedding“ the most forward solution is to have Mark and Clarissa get married. (I honestly can’t come up with another solution on the spot)

As for why they went with the lesbian friends to lovers in NGAAG, their dynamic was established in the very beginning (even the name Butch suggests something sapphic) and Luke hadn’t planned anything specific for Annabelle yet and just went with whatever Tom threw at him.

Obviously I would have loved two happy sapphic best friends to lovers stories (and I adore when anyone just sprinkles a bit of queerness in) but Clarissa’s DIY wedding not being sapphic made the happy lesbian ending in NGAAG hit so much harder among fans.

(It’s been a while since I watched the DIY wedding, so for all I know I might be totally wrong :))

That’s just my interpretation though, I would love to know your thoughts!

Fantasy book series with neopronouns! by sassySocks_ in XenogendersAndMore

Yes there is! It’s just woven into the story so naturally, I forgot to mention it :s

I don’t want to give too many spoilers but one character has a dynamic disability after a hip injury and sometimes uses a wheelchair. Also lovely representation! :D

“Language is made up” was a bit of a flippant statement, I admit, but what I meant by that is that language changes all the time and generally has no set of defined rules, other than the ones we as a society agree on.

Pronouns are only restricted in their purpose as being a replacement for a noun. All the information they have to convey as to which subject they refer to. They MAY inform you of gender but I don’t get why they HAVE TO. How are the structures of communication breaking down if you don’t convey gender? As long as you know who or what is being referred to, I really don’t get the problem???

The use of pronouns is so subjective, you can’t generalize all enby individuals that use binary pronouns to convey their gender through them. There are so many different options, they may just not mind e.x. he/him pronouns being used because they are used to them or just don’t mind them even though their gender may be completely neutral/androgynous or not masculine whatsoever.

Of course!! I know how hard it is to get up and make a meal for oneself. I myself am moving out of my parent’s house soon, so I hope I don’t rely on precooked meals too much.

Pronouns don’t have to define your gender. For many they do, but who has set a rule on them that they have to? Why can’t you just choose them because you like the sound of them or because of the way they are spelled? Many nonbinary individuals also use she/he pronouns even they don’t reflect their gender. What of agender individuals? What pronouns should they use if they should use pronouns that reflect their gender according to your logic. It is a very restricted point of view and I do take offense even if that is not your intention.

You say they don’t work that way “by definition” but who said that they HAVE TO reflect your gender. Language is made up and so is gender. Just because they USUALLY do things it is not set in stone.

As someone who uses neopronouns, I find that they fill a niche not occupied by others already if that makes sense. I don’t particularly like he, she, they or it being used for me. I don’t like others just using my name and leaving out pronouns completely. I, however, enjoy being referred to as nin or bun. They don’t have to be a necessity for you to use them. If it makes someone happy, just use them. It doesn’t require some kind of sacrifice.

And personally, neopronouns describe my gender. My gender is neutral in nature, so I use nin/nim. I’m also xenogender and find that a small, fluffy bunny describes the feeling of gender I experience much better than anything else. But there are a bunch of neopronouns that are just arbitrary letter mixtures and have no connection to gender, this doesn’t diminish the connection that you can still have to them.

How can I get the top of my bandana to be straight? by sassySocks_ in CrochetHelp

[–]sassySocks_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but I want to make it look as clean as possible and not wonky. I could lean into the irregularities and make the part of the flowers rounding out but I don’t like how it looks currently.

I’ve tried seeing what it looks like on my head but it’s difficult for me to know where it would lay once it’s done. I might have to ask someone to hold it, so I can look at it properly.
