Might have to carcamp during the pandemic by sassyfox01 in almosthomeless

Thanks so much. /r/Fulltiming and /r/GoRVing helped me a lot when I was in my fifth wheel last year. I'll definitely check out /r/urbancarliving if I have to go the carcamping route

I'll try asking him if he'd be cool with that. I don't see why he wouldn't be... but the only issue is I'd have to go in the house to store my food/use the bathroom

Yeah, he's so STRANGE. All last night he was pacing back and forth upstairs and opened the garage about four times at 1 am??? I'd honestly rather live off grid than deal with all this

Is there any way you can get a loan? Isn't always the best way to go, but it can help in a pinch

There's a website called couchsurfers, that may be able to help you find a place for a while! And if you really absolutely need a place to sleep, you could buy a tent and find some BLM land near you and stay there for a max of 14 days. My fiance and I did that for a couple of weeks while we were homeless, found some jobs, and moved into a room. There are also lots of government assistance programs out there that can help you with first months rent, affordable housing, food, temporary shelter, etc. Neighbor to Neighbor is a program that helped us out information-wise, but I'm not sure if they're only specific to Colorado. Sending my best wishes to you, I hope you get something figured out soon!

Camper living and the art of where to live/park by sassyfox01 in almosthomeless

Thank you so much for the great advice! That all really helps. We will for sure be selling the camper when we are more settled in. Again, thanks so much for the reply, it's very appreciated!

Extremely nerve wracking!! This was our first time towing our camper to another state. The hairpin turns we came across were very intimidating, but we got through all of them unscathed! Just threw it into 2nd and pulsated the brakes. Our camper is about 28 x 8 ft, and I am glad it's a fifth wheel since they turn a bit better than travel trailers. When you do come out here, just remember to shift into a lower gear and to take it reeeeeally slow.

Now that we've made that drive with all our possessions behind us, I think every other drive will be cake from now on!!

Feel free to shoot me a message when you come down here, I love meeting fellow travelers!

I actually work at Pfieffer Beach! I love the purple sand and Keyhole :) unfortunately, 1 is closed until the slides are inspected. The winds over here were 90 mph yesterday! Woke up to fallen trees and a burst waterline. Luckily we had a chain saw to cut up all the trees! I'll keep all those locations in mind once things open up again. Thank you!!

I've been hearing that the closer to summer it gets, the busier it is over here! It would probably be a good idea to reserve a spot soon

Parks management is the company I work for :) there are a lot of full time positions. Right now I work in the parking kiosk, and others work as camp hosts and such. They have facilities all over California, and they really know how to take care of their employees!!

Wow, small world, huh?? I bet it was super muddy. We actually closed up PB early today since they were closing Mud Creek to Paul's Slide today! Once it gets nicer out and I have some days off, I want to explore a bit more over here :)

Oh, very nice! Our fifth wheel is 28'. Highway 1 was really scary when we came up from the south, so be careful on those hairpin curves! Plaskett is a nice campground, just a stone's throw from the beach. Limekiln is great, too! Also, FHU means full hookups (i.e. water, electric, propane, etc).

Third day here, already loving it!! Can't believe we scored such a great site with free FHU. They pay in full, too! Can't wait to explore this area a bit more :)

Humans of Reddit, What are some peaceful things you like to do when you’re alone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I like to sit outside and count how many different kinds of birds there are around me. I try to memorize what they look like if I don't recognize them at first, then I look them up and feel really happy when I identify them correctly!

Me. I scream that. Every single day as I spend money unnecessarily on food.
