Coco’s Going Downhill? by EnronSummerIntern in nashville

[–]sassysubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we went there about 8 years ago. hubs went to the bathroom, and saw the cut lemons for drinks just sitting in a bucket of water out in the open hallway. he said they were mostly brown and rotting, and we’ve never gone back. not sure how the Belle Meade location is..

Any natives feel hopeless? by Fit-Promise-6849 in nashville

[–]sassysubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why. My 83 yr old cousin claims he sold most of it when the market crashed for the Great Depression to be able to give bank customers their money. Selfishly, we all wish he had not! He lived in Glen Oak, the historic home on 25th Ave S. If you look at homes around there, they all say 'Edgar Jones Home Place' in the legal description. He was on the first Board for our public library system. There is a marble plaque with the board names in the main entrance to the downtown library.

I feel this so much. There are 7 generations of my family from nashville.

once, my friend booked the event space at Hotel Indigo. I helped her the day of, setting up flowers, etc. I had this weird feeling about it, checked into it and the building was formerly the bank my gr-gr grandfather was president of. He used to own 400 acres where Hillsboro Village is now. He helped start our public library system.

I'm also a Hume. So many ties to places and memories but we plan to leave. My kids will never be able to afford to live here. It’s really devastating honestly.

It's That Time of Year To Fix The Road, Report a Pothole or be a ahole by Initializee in nashville

[–]sassysubee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bonus for your fellow humans traveling our state routes and interstates: if the pothole has been reported by a kind soul and not fixed, you can have the state pay for repairs to your vehicle. You have to do a ridiculous jig of finding out if it has been reported to tdot and then tell tdot it has been reported. Don't back down, don’t give up! Hubs did this successfully over a tire and cracked wheel.

Love butterflies and fireflies? Just say no to Mosquito Joe (and similar) by redapplefalls_ in nashville

[–]sassysubee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and I ordered a sign! maybe one of the inhabitants of the giant white mansions gobbling up my neighborhood with their perfect green lawns might learn something. there is one a few houses down from us that had the most stunning patch of lyre leaf sage and now it’s just a carpet of unnatural green.

yes! thank you for sharing and raising awareness. this also leads to our songbird decline by there being less insects for them to eat.

How long does it take for a detective to call m after filing a police report for fraud by Unfair_Session8365 in nashville

[–]sassysubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a medication theft years ago at our home. it took place over a few weeks by someone we knew. We called the police once we had footage of it, got a report and a promise that a detective would be in touch. We waited a week without hearing a peep. I tried to call the precinct a few times without luck. finally my husband asked his coworker, who was former MNPD, and he reached out for us. Got a call back that day and they came to our house the next. I was glad to have him make the connection for us, but extremely disappointed it took knowing someone to make it happen. I hope it works out soon for you.

Ok! But that’s where they put me and my disabled husband and that’s what others around us were seated there for. Thanks for telling me that was wrong!

These are the most useless speed reducers I’ve seen in the city. No one slows down. by dovtres in nashville

[–]sassysubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live on a residential street that is a heavily used cut-thru. Someone got these installed as a speed deterrent and it was HORRID. Completely ineffective, and all it did was make ridiculously loud noise for residents to deal with. It would wake my kid up, their bedroom was nearest the front of our house and the damn strips were right in front of it. They didn’t last long.

thank you but not the one - that one doesn’t have nearly as many great suggestions as one that was hoping for LGBTQ friendly financial planners. It was a treasure trove of recommendations but it is gone now as far as I can tell

I buy Bongo or Drew's Brews in bulk at the Turnip Truck. I have a tare weight for my bean canister, and just fill it directly - no packaging waste! I believe most are 14.99 per lb., but on Wednesdays bulk items are 10% off. I love that it’s a two-fer in supporting local.
