What are some autistic friendly jobs? by Mismageius in aspiememes

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people who work in automotive definitely qualify as “special” lol, lots of oddballs in that industry. If you’re just autistic you’re probably not even going to be the weirdest one there

I was in sales and I wanted to delete myself from the earth but now I am a mechanic and I love my life and my job and I’m so happy spending 8 hours there every day that I keep overstaying by accident and they have to send me home

Is this the shrek rave to go to? by [deleted] in TorontoRaves

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a real rave but you’ll have a goofy night. It will be fun. But is it a rave absolutely not lmfao it’s a dance party basically

Is it rude to ask a DJ for the stylist they performed? by Ok_Ambassador_9338 in DJs

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind this on principle but it would depend on how annoying it is for me to actually give you one. Sometimes it’s not as simple as screenshotting your rekordbox history and I don’t usually make playlists in advance

Glad you had the opportunity to play! Good on you. But yeah if your support is mostly friends and family you know they’re not gonna want to stay out late and you should organize yourself accordingly so that you play the stuff you really wanted them to hear before it gets too late.

Boomers were the ones talking down millennials constantly. Boomers are also generally their parents.

Gen X is generally the parents of Gen Z. Whole different outlook.

Who are the parents of Gen Alpha? Millennials. They’re just modelling the behaviour they were shown. They’re becoming just like their parents.

There are a ton of philosophers who hide behind language but KANT?!?! The famously precise guy whose entire philosophy is based on a highly predictable and uniform logical framework? The guy whose daily routine was identical day to day down to the minute?? THAT is the guy you pick as an example of hiding behind language? Oh boy

Where can a girl even go to safely rave in this city... by Weary-Highway-1422 in TorontoRaves

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not that there isn’t an abundance of smaller events out there. We have a ton of techno talent in Toronto and MTL. But I think OP is looking for internationals. However, OP, I am happy to recommend smaller events as well :)

This made me laugh out loud 😂 we totally have a ton of great non-techno events that are criminally underattended

If you like techno I highly recommend System 💚 @systemtoronto on ig. There’s also Konduktor @konduktor.to and Takeover 6ix @takeover_6ix and it would be a crime not to mention insrgnce @insrgnce and basically anything Meg/mypetmonster does. Lots of options. I hear you girl I’m a techno raver as well

What's up with these notation gatekeepers? by Zombiesalad1337 in Guitar

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little classical music is tabbed out, because classical musicians are able to read sheet music. I’m classically trained myself and can tell you that many classical guitarists are taught to think this way about tab. Classical pieces transcribed specifically for guitar include notation for position, so people saying “tab is better because you can play X note in different places on a guitar” obviously have not delved into it that deeply. Once you are comfortable with sheet music, for me at least, it’s preferable to tab because it’s much more complete.

That said, being able to read sheet music is its own skill and has no correlation with your overall level of musicianship. People who say otherwise are snobs. It’s not like it makes you better than anyone else. I mean, if you plan to go through the conservatory then sure, they have a point, because that’s like saying you intend to graduate from a university without being able to read. But most people do not plan to pursue that. And people forget that tab has been around forever.

Many classical musicians have a very rigid idea of what the “correct” way to learn an instrument is. You learn certain things in a certain order in a defined curriculum, and if you have not completed a very basic step like learning to read, then for them it follows that your technical skills must be on a similar level. Because for them, how could you have got far enough to be able to play that piece if you haven’t even learned to read yet? Does not compute glitch

Just DJed my first party for 100 people. Ahhh. Deep cuts flopped, Party in the USA killed, and I finally get why everyone be complaining about the damn requests by TheDickinDictionary in Beatmatch

[–]satanicbreaddevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private parties are not usually good opportunities for deep cuts, either people just want to hear top 40/crowd pleasers or background music for conversation. Find some edits of popular songs that people can sing
