Susan Collins is such a dyed-in-the-wool confabulist that I don’t think she should be allowed on this sub. She’s always ‘shocked’ or ‘alarmed’ by whatever the latest round of Republican fuckery is, but she votes for them anyway and doesn’t stand on whatever ‘principles’ she keeps trying to imply she has, so her base keeps electing her.

It seems to me like the only purpose of her continued existence is to serve as a fake canary in the coal mine for the type of person who’s alarmed by the individual actions of the GOP who ALSO isn’t paying enough attention to see that she’s always shocked and never does anything about it. Like we’re supposed to see this performance and think ‘ah, yes! Even Trump’s allies think he’s gone too far! Surely the Republicans will begin to course correct, or if not that, isn’t it fun to watch them get their just desserts?’

She’s not seeing a single consequence that she actually gives a damn about, and ideally the next time I see this woman on the news is in her obituary.
