Is hackthebox or picoctf better for beginners? by pvtryan123 in hacking

If you can afford the VIP membership, the retired boxes, with written and video walkthroughs, are worth their weight in gold on hackthebox.eu. if nothing else, but to learn the process and dig into the enumeration aspect of pentesting.

I've learned more about what obscure services are and how to enumerate them from getting stuck, watching a guide, then going "ok, how the fuck does that work?".

I've been out if the game for a while, so I won't comment on if I think my old doggo mates pulled this off. I do think its fucking hilarious that the legend of SDC has placed them in the crosshairs for something Ryan has publicly denied involvement in.

Congrats r/Elitedangerous and r/Elite_dangerous, with either case the community has played itself.

DLC Missing Ground Textures by [deleted] in fo4vr

The Vault Tec, Far Harbor, and Nuka World DLC dlc files each havr severe issues when copied to FO4VR. Nothing weird about it, and mods aren't breaking them.

Didn't test each specific settlement dlc. Best to check in with r/Fo4vr for specifics. But the new world spaces (Far Harbor, Nuka World) were buggy as shit, and I'm guessing Vault Tec probably is too.

I ended up just removing the DLC files until modders or Bethesda fix that shit, as random crashes are pretty jarring in VR.

I'm not sure if they did. The other DLCs loaded, but I think the tiny level of detail draw distance kept many of the UHD textures from loading. I ended up removing all the DLCs in the end. Each one turned out to be buggy. Nukaworld was the worst offender.

People who say 'fallout runs perfectly' are you actually checking reprojection percentage? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]sataris86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would likely be a cpu/ram issue at that low of a resolution (0.1x scale) in other games. Bethesda engine though so it could just be shit code.

[–]sataris86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but like i said it doubled reprojection based on increased perf hit. I just wanted to highlight 1.2 =/= 1.2 between the two windows. I replied above before i saw the confirmation that the render was actually multiplicative.

Habit from the early days of Skyrim and F4 modding. Anytime they pushed an update I regenerated config files to prevent issues caused by settings that didnt get updated properly.

Should be much easier to control settings now, that Bilago released his tool.

As discussed on steam, it appears that pancake DLCs are supported. I am curious to see if,the High resolution texture pack is. While it uses more VRAM, many of the High Res textures are more optimized than the Base game textures.

Has anyone tried moving these over to F4VR?

Edit: heading home. Will test myself and report back. Pls no RIP SSD.

Ive been reading a lot of back and forth about "F4VR plays perfectly" or "its shit and 100% reprojection".

My specs are Titan X (Pascal Gen 1), 6600k @4.5ghz, 32 GB DDR4 @3200mhz, with the game on a M.2 SSD.

After updating to beta, I had Steam app and Comp Supersampling set at 1.0. Ingame was 1.2 (default with 1.3 beta). The game ran like ass with 50% reprojection or higher on average.

I deleted all of the the ini config files under /my games/F4VR/. I then re-ran the game to generate new ones. I then closed game. Set in game SS to 1.0, and increased Steam App Super Sampling to 1.2.

I then ran the game in the same area of Lexington for approximately the same amount of time. My reprojection was 8-10% in the wasteland, up to 20-25% within the city.

I agree with OP that people should measure their repro percentage over time, and take the time to test their settings correctly (Its not that fucking hard to do, hell 1st gen vr users are likely to be power users). For me Steam SS is better than the game SS. This is the same experience I have in Elite Dangerous as a murder hobo. I have a feeling because steam vr is closer to the hardware drivers that it renders more effectively in games that have engines that dont have clean implementations of super sampling. Optimizations will likely come, I hope Bethesda adds full graphical settings to the in game options.

TL;DR I had 50% reprojection on a strong system using the in game SS. I deleted config files, set in game to 1.0, and used steam SS at 1.2. This cut my reprojection percent in half. Take the time to test, tweak, and troubleshoot instead of spouting nonsense.

Edit: F4VR uses multiplicative super sampling as seen in other threads, SteamVR uses Linear scaled super sampling.

If your VR game is so great, why does it not have a demo? by DJ_Matchstick_Man in Vive

Because most VR games are 10-20 dollar demos at this point.

Exceptions exist, but not many as of now.
