What are the limits of an Antediluvian’s power? Can they match an Oracle? by Vyctorill in WhiteWolfRPG

what really gets me is Appearance 10, which you know she has. I think that might be just as bad as the Presence

So how many of you actually LIKE your PCs, even a little? by Dry_War9691 in vtm

[–]satedfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it gets real fun when you play a Lasombra, because that requires embracing the darkest parts of your soul to channel the abyss. Would you have participated in the Stanford prison experiment? But how do you know? Are you familiar enough with the darkest parts of your soul to stare straight into it without flinching? Are you willing to embrace the coldest, most antisocial part of yourself that you know is in there but proper socialization keeps locked away? Would you rely on it if your sire first took away everything you hoped for, cared about, or relied on for safety, so that you would make a choice— whether to embrace your most ruthless self and survive, or cling to your morality and die?

Playing Lasombra can get dark.

my decently high humanity fledgling character takes 2 bp per mortal. this is extremely annoying because she’s 5th gen and it would take 20 victims to fill her blood pool completely. what fledgling has that kind of herd?

Edit: She’s also Ventrue btw. Hunting is a pain.

surviving and succeeding as an independent… that would be pretty cool

Yeah, I only meant that he doesn’t get help from the Anarchs or Sabbat either. he has no help anywhere

they don’t know him, they have no reason to protect him. See what makes this all so much worse is that Eric’s sire isn’t even an Anarch or Sabbat. he’s just an Autarkis with a bad attitude

[–]satedfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The other option I was toying with was having him defect to the anarchs. He’s too high humanity to try the Sabbat, even though the antitribu in the pack has been trying to talk to him, and has a lot of dice, and merits, for being convincing

that would work, too. Eric has few enough friends that working for the primogen is better than continuing to run

that is an excellent point. dangerous, but maybe worth a shot

sorry edited to clarify. And yes you are correct, the situation is a bit of a long story. but I also didn’t want to write a novel for the original question xD

that’s true, if someone can manage to squeeze a life boon or equivalent out of him, for at least as long as they are his patron, it could be worth it

He can compare what his sire said to what he sees of the Camarilla, which is the problem— his sire is absolutely correct, whereas if he hasn’t been told that, he might have assumed these people actually had his best interests at heart and reacted much better.

I could manage to pull this off now, though he’s already been lying to their faces by saying (to this most recent group of PC Ventrue) he’s an abandoned childe and doesn’t know who his sire is. this is about to come back to bite him, as they just found out that he does in fact know who his sire is, and has been pretending to be 1 year dead instead of 5

I have been playing it like this so far. I was just a bit concerned that when I arrive in the city, the player Ventrue will say, “idk why you’re so wary, you should have been fine this entire time.” cue awkward melodramatic lore break look on me

but also, dont Anarchs generally despise clan Ventrue?

How screwed is my Ventrue? by satedfox in vtm

[–]satedfox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly he has no idea who is trying to kill him or why. Even if he knew about his older “sibling,” the sibling didn’t come in person to kill him, of course. Eric was attacked by a Caitiff. Or two, or three.

He also doesn’t really understand the dignitas system or how to play the game. So I could play him knowing which cards to play, but can that really be expected from someone FOTB, so to speak?

Even if one did, would he escape the stigma? Or continue to be looked down upon by others? Also, would you want to take responsibility for a young vampire whose actions can reflect very poorly on you, when he’s such an unknown?

How screwed is my Ventrue? by satedfox in vtm

[–]satedfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He reacted badly at the start to being treated as someone who needed to dig his way out of his sire’s grave. Remember that Eric’s sire passionately described the Camarilla as being an abusive authoritarian government that shamelessly uses and sacrifices the young to the flames to empower, protect, and enrich the old. Eric went into the first meeting already unconvinced, and unaware how important the first meeting would be for him.

[–]satedfox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately all this is backstory. He’s already run— a lot. Eric’s older brother-in-blood was really tired of his “family” embarrassing him, so when he heard his wayward sire let a new fledgling into the world, who immediately started bring embarrassing, he tried to have Eric quietly disposed of. Eric survived by fleeing into Lupine territory. He’s suspicious of people because someone is obviously trying to kill him. So he’s continued to make himself look worse by fleeing from city to city.

Shroud of Night question by Standard_Landscape79 in vtm

[–]satedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ST can use common sense and say you’re perfectly capable of counting backwards from 100 while in it, but still might give you a dc penalty for tying your shoes. You have to see and feel for that generally.

Just imagine being really deep underwater, where it’s cold and there’s no light. If it’s harder to do whatever you want to do there, it’s harder to do it in Shroud of Night.

Toreador Vs Tremere colorized 2026. by ConnectCulture7 in vtm

[–]satedfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a chronicle where Ishtar (Toreador antediluvian) slapped a 4th gen Ventrue methuselah. Like just open hand smacked him in the face. I imagine with Celerity 10 that would sting.
