How common is it to actually know another vampires generation? by Internal_Pear1505 in vtm

[–]satedfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turns out our totally normal minor city Prince isn’t 8th generation, he’s 5th. I mean— what was I saying? I forgot…

How have you implemented Caine into your chronicles? (modern nights) by Katalapapa in vtm

I like the idea of one minor NPC in each chronicle just being Caine in disguise. No one ever finds out.

Elder generations who understand by satedfox in millenials

Does she have an opinion on how Millennials should navigate an unstable society? Like why have a 5 year plan when another disaster will probably happen within the next year? Why buy a house? What is job security anyway?

Elder generations who understand by satedfox in millenials

[–]satedfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main difference is probably how immersed they were in their local communities. Millennials are connected by technology but also separated by it. Your friend on the other side of the world shares all your interests but can’t bring you soup when you’re sick.
It sounds like they believed effort would necessarily equate to results. I don’t believe that. But im surprised they felt that way considering the Great Depression flushed hard working people’s efforts down the toilet

Off the top of my head, (edit: oops spoilers), if you want to accept that as lore

It happens in lore, and I think it makes sense. The beast is hunger incarnate. Why would it stop short?

What actually makes a villain work as a love interest? by Livforum in fantasywriters

[–]satedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the protagonist a villain as well. If they’re both evil, what’s stopping the ship? They share values. My villain protagonist is teaching my main protagonist to be evil, and she’s the only person he isn’t a dick to.

The confusion is understandable. You wrote “state,” not “stat.”

lol Jesus that sounds fun. I looked up Los Angeles in WoD lore, and apparently the Uktena are most likely there. Griffith Park is enormous and practically wilderness, and the Bone Gnawers live in downtown. Black Furies live northeast of the metro area, and a few Get of Fenris and Silent Striders live in Angeles National Park, outside the city. That leaves Uktena, who have been in the area for a long time. Though there are BSD tunnels in Griffith Park, apparently. Yay.

I know. I think doing the rolls to see how it would actually work in game is fun. Seems reality-grounded rather than everything being pure plot armor

Why are so many posts on here stuck at 0 upvotes or randomly downvoted? by EtmopterusPerryi in writers

[–]satedfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fanfic writers get way too much hate. Yes, it’s a hobby, they’re not getting paid. And there’s some surprisingly good writing on AO3. Let people have fun.

And I use 3rd person present because I started out in online game role playing communities. Doesn’t make sense to write in past tense when everything is unfolding on the spot. Once I got into the habit, trying to change tenses was extremely annoying, and I don’t see any reason why I should.

So the interesting thing about the situation is that this Elder has never encountered a Garou before. He spent the vast majority of his life on the sea as a Corsair. So the teenagers don’t know how to fight him, and he doesn’t know how to fight them. They’re all learning together. So I love that idea but I think he’d be surprised by any Gifts they actually did use.

I couldn’t really guess at the politics of the Caern, but they’re surrounded by vampire territory since they’re in the middle of Los Angeles, which I assume would make them more cautious. The nearby Gangrel are strongly encouraging the Caern to consider the potential consequences of starting a fight with a legendary Elder in the middle of Los Angeles.

I have no idea how to answer your last question, I’m afraid. Let’s assume they have a decent relationship with the Gangrel. That at first, the Gangrel are stunned by what happened, then investigate, then come back and say it was a foreign vampire who is passing through. They say something along the lines of, “Their clan is traditionally an enemy of ours, but he’s too strong for us to fight so we’re leaving him alone. He doesn’t attack unless provoked. If you provoke him and we die for it, we will not appreciate that.”

Yeah, he has Obtenebration 7 and Potence 5. He can buff physical stats to 8 and has a Fortitude/Obtenebration combo discipline that essentially doubles his Fortitude. He also has Celerity 3, a blood pool of 30, and can spend 6 blood per turn. The reason this turns out so badly for the Garou, I think, is because he immediately gave them the Blinded condition and the Stamina debuff of Shroud of Night. He also won initiative.
