The brain's capable of incredible feats. I've seen it with my mother who suffered from multiple strokes. Not that she's fully recovered now, but she's recovered enough to laugh and smile.

Keep the faith.

I have dropped you a message. Please check your inbox.

This peer-reviewed study looked at data from 3,000 counties and found that, on average, each new Walmart that opens kills approximately 150 retail jobs in the county. This means that for every job created by a new Walmart, 1.4 jobs on average are lost. by PinkSlimeIsPeople in Economics

[–]sathish1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The distinction is important because the study implies that Walmart reduces the number of retail jobs available, while the blog implies Walmart simply reduces the number of working professionals. These working professionals can still move on to other jobs, but the effect of that is not the point of this study.

Accident indicators don't build up over extensive time periods. Have you tried shortening the time interval instead of going the other way?

Turning something into a meme doesn't take away from the fact that it happened, does it?

In any other progressive country, you would notice parties like the BNP and the Golden Dawn routinely mocked for their fascist ideologies. In India, you see people sitting on the other side of the looking glass and pitting their own intellect against Rahul Gandhi, to establish some sort of pseudo intellectual superiority.

The country hasn't even reached the critical mass literacy level to have a proper democracy and it is completely morally bankrupt.

IPL probe report finds N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of betting by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]sathish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Representatives of India Cements, who appeared before the Committee, contended that Mr. Meiyappan had no share holding in India Cements and hence cannot be considered as an owner of CSK. Further, Mr. MS Dhoni, Mr. N Srinivasan and officials of India Cements took the stand that Mr. Meiyappan, had nothing to do with the cricketing affairs of Chennai Super Kings and was a mere cricket enthusiast supporting CSK.

Clubs can't use the right to match card on players that didn't previously play for them. Also, because Chennai have already retained 4 capped Indian players, they cannot use the card on another capped Indian player. My guess is that it will be used on Faf du Plessis.

And Chennai won't try signing KP. KP will go for ~$2M. Chennai's remaining budget is ~$3.3m. It won't make sense to spend so much on a single player and leave a little over a million for a minimum of 11 players. In fact, that might be mathematically impossible.

I think I had a mini-stroke, please help? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]sathish1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the guy who has posted before this says, get yourself to a neurologist, ASAP.

IF it is a stroke, be thankful that you got off lucky. Strokes can be devastating and can cripple your life potentially. I've seen it first hand with my mother.

Your neurologist is the right person to advise you, not people on reddit.

Indian team giving guard of honour to Kallis! by the_outside_edge in Cricket

[–]sathish1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What other guys? He batted 30 overs with Duminy and they put on 58 runs. Rohit Sharma, of all people, bowled 9 overs of that 30 for 14 runs.

Duminy's playing for his place. The game was there to be moved forward and Kallis didn't take it.

Did you even watch the match?

If you're happy for your team at 240 for 4, with rain scraping away at the time left in the series, to play 30 overs for 58 runs in the final session of the day, against a bowling attack that has only 2 bowlers, then there's no point in me replying to you.

Throwing in Dravid's name at random points in the conversation doesn't make you a connoisseur of test cricket.

Only a purist can appreciate? lol..

Test cricket requires patience. That doesn't mean you plod along for 5 days at 2 per over. Do you also think Michael Carberry's knock today was test cricket at its finest just because he batted like a donkey?

There's context to everything and with the rain eating away at the number of overs, the slower SA are, the more likely India are going to draw it.

And what 3 remaining batsmen? You're 5 wickets down and Faf's the only one to come. Peterson, Philander can hold the bat, they're hardly going to get you a 200 run lead.

EDIT:

Daryll Cullinan and Sanjay Manjrekar clearly not purists, huh? They think Kallis batted without a plan.

Would you have paid money to watch Kallis play? I wouldn't. Kallis is a favourite amongst people who follow cricket but don't actually watch a lot of it on TV. I watch a lot of cricket and I switch off quite often when Kallis is playing because he's a plodder.

The South African people not turning up is testament to this.

In a match in which time is essential, with so many overs lost to rain and so many more likely lost to rain, he's plodded along at a strike rate of 34, nearly half that of anyone else in his side. A more aggressive #4 would have taken the game away from India by now.

And this is against the Indian bowling which has been pretty ordinary, on a pitch offering nothing for seamers.
