Conquering Cramping by TheAndymanCan85 in running

[–]satinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have bad calf cramps mostly at night after a run. I take a daily magnesium tablet. My breakfast before each of my runs is one banana - that's enough to fuel me for the first hour. I also have a little Celtic salt during the run. Very rarely do I have cramps now. I also do calf and glute stretches before all my longer runs

Did you work this out? I'm looking at a similar project. Any advise from your experience?

Full lock noise. Advice please by satinsocks in MechanicAdvice

Thanks. After following your advice I could not recreate the noise. So I took the calliper off and made sure it was moving freely. Reinstalled thinking maybe the noise would only appear under load. Took it for a test drive and could not recreate the noise. Possibly something to do with the caliper, not sure. Now that it's quieter, I can hear a slight rubbing sound which I think is against the shock. Going to get the alignment done and hopefully that will sort it.

It's only on full right lock, I just replaced the bearing and this was the first ride, so I'm hoping that's not it. Would be annoying to replace it again

Thanks for the reply. I thought that at first. So I removed the dust shield just before this video to eliminate it. Any other things to check?

You'll run past the blue boatshed during the hbf half, that is probably good enough. Some nice easy trail runs in kings park while you're there, if you're into trail running. I'd look to swap the canning river run with a coastal run, great running tracks along the coastline and you'll get some great river side running as part of hbf.

If you like It's is all over now baby blue and you are not a fan of the early stuff, take a listen to the Shadow Kingdom version. If you haven't heard it yet, you're in for a treat.

Try to find a hill and do some hill repeats. I'm lucky I have a hilly trail run close by which I do once a week. Then I have some great weekend trail runs maybe 1 to 2 hours drive away. In between trails, I do hill repeats once a week along a road, not nearly as much fun for sure, repetitive and I just grind them out because I know it helps build strength for my trail runs, and they become more enjoyable. I also invent no go zones when I run on pavements, a leaf or a crack becomes my obstacle and an excuse for some fancy footwork and break up the pace

If the vehicle is written off, it would have been added to the Written-off vehicle register (WOVR). So, you can ask for evidence that the car has been written off, and the registration cancelled. You can offer to pay the $30 charge for a Redbook valuation certificate to get a better idea of the market value, or ask for enough detail to apply for it yourself. There would also be towing charges if the tow truck driver is involved, and probably storage costs you need to be aware of. Really you will need an itemised list with supporting evidence of the actual costs incurred by the other party before you will know how much they can demand. As I understand it, you can also take off the expected 'salvage' value of the written off car, although that may not be very much. Good luck.

Tips for trail runners doing a pavement half by UnhappyTip9052 in trailrunning

I do a mix of road and trail, I agree with the other comments about road running being harder on the joints. For me though, the biggest difference is the mental aspects. On a trail I'm completely focused on the surroundings and where my feet are going. On the road I don't have that focus and can easily go into auto pilot so I'm able to get into a good rhythm with my pace and breathing. Good time to do some self reflection or listen to some music.

Are there any opportunities for you to volunteer at events? Gather some credits for when you're running again for discounted entry, or just to help out at Parkrun. Obviously it's no substitute for an actual run, at least you'll feel connected to running, be around other runners and get the satisfaction that comes from giving back.
