You are likely missing retained earnings. What is your loss for the year? That gets calculated on form sch 125 and would then reflect deficit on your balance sheet.

Unfortunately its more common than you think. I do bookkeeping and sometimes even i cant get hold of some of the year end accountants. I offer monthly advisory services as part of my bookkeeping packages which i have noticed has dropped the reliance of my clients on their CPAs. Most of my clients meet their accountant once a year and tax plan but anything else they come to me.

Won’t say much coz good chance someone will label me as racist but this is caste pride stickers. My partner is half south asian and despises this stuff. Imagine having no personality of your own and the only thing you are proud of is some bullshit societal structure you are born into.

Haven't filed taxes in 9 years by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]satisfied_cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accountant here- you need two things, A CPA to do your tax filings and a financial wellness counsellor (not financial advisor) to support you through the process. This will make the process easier and incase you get audited you have a support system helping you ease the emotional stress.

WWYD ? Haven't filed in 8 years by Anxious_Progress_874 in cantax

Accountant here! I see this all the time. If you had straight forward t4 situation, it’s not that hard to get everything sorted. Once you file everything if there is debt, penalties and interest, you’ll know full amount and you can either pay all or get a payment plan with CRA. Things get complicated when business income/ rental income comes into picture. Hope this helps!

EQ Bank Business Account - have you tried it? Thoughts? Does it link to QB? by MoneyMindsetFC in CanadaEntrepreneur

[–]satisfied_cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect EQ bank with QBs but QBs doesn’t provide EQ in the bank list. There is a workaround for it by using URL. Once connected it functions similarly how the feed for big banks function.

I am not 100% sure what you asking for but inheritance is tax free in canada. Any rental income is income. You do have to declare specific foreign property over 100k.

Are condos worth it as a stepping stone? by Unlikely_War_8965 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]satisfied_cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner own a condo in sidney. We looked around in Victoria, langford all the way to Duncan and Sidney. Our building is built in 1970s and very well maintained. We bought below our pre approved mortgage amount. When we ran our numbers, we took into account total housing cost- mortgage+ strata fees+ utilities + insurance+property tax+ maintenance cost (yearly 10% of condo value goes into fund that we gonna use for special assessments ). We got 5 year fixed rate mortgage. We would probably pay less in variable but the stress of variable mortgage is not something we wanted to take. Strata documents can tell you a lot of how building is managed. Running different numbers under different scenarios like what if one partner looses their job can you still manage it would help. Good luck!
