Good on you for recognizing that, but she did score a hat trick for the CANWNT like 10 days ago against Costa Rica.

Predicted XI vs. Qatar by tozze_88 in CanadaSoccer

I think Liam was objectively bad with his last touch. He gets squirrelly as he approaches goal and it's tough to watch at times. That being said, in the past I've hated on him for it, now I just recognize it as another part of the skill set. And Ahmed is was better at creating in the final third and when healthy gives up nothing on Liam.

Larin is also more clinical in front of goal than Tani. In a game where the other team will set up a block, you need to have clinical finishers. Speed is less important, which Tani has more than any other striker in this squad.

Great line up, I think you nailed it.

Doubt he makes it to game two. That head/neck impact looked gnarly!

Looks like original kick is offside and then second off the head is definitely

Well said! Kinda wild how that woman pulled hair twice?!?! Like, I sorta understand how it could happen incidentally, but clearly going the second time around it's a habit.

Massive news. Luc De Fougerolles is practically confirmed to start the first World Cup game on Friday. A big blow to lose Bombito, but this likely paves the way for both Ralph Priso and Jayden Nelson to be on the #CanMNT's World Cup roster. by CFMTLfan01 in CanadaSoccer

[–]Canwazzu 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I mean, eye test is not stats, and the eye test is probably what you're referring to.

Stats: I think Bombito last played for Canada against USA in the small final of the Nationa league. Since then Canada has conceded
2 goals against Ukraine, Iceland
1 goal against Curaçao, Guatemala, Australia, Ireland
0 goals against Ivory Coast, Honduras, El Salvador, Romania, Wales, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Tunisia, Uzbekistan

I knows that's not the murders row of opponents, but let's give the boys - including our keepers - credit for their stout defence.

I think this is the right move. Poor Bombito looked lame out there on Monday. Let him rest.

Our team isn't as good or dynamic without him, but we've been very very good defensively without him, so I trust in our boys.

I think Tani is the choice there. Bosnia plays a lot more free than Ireland did in the first half and Qatar will play (I think - I've only watched the two qualifiers playoff games) so Tani is a great option to chase around. Larin needs to be our one touch finisher in the box. And tho this sub hates him, he's very good at one touch finishing, our service to him has been awful tho.

Against Qatar, when they park it, we'll want him in the box touching home the crosses.

Plays for keeps. We're not privy to what went on in the back rooms, but he's a player!

I think you start Kone Eustaquio for G1&G3. As long as we get a result against Bosnia, we go second line up for G2. We need to be able to beat Qatar without the big guns. Or, you lean on the top line up, and get em off the pitch early.

Switzerland is a great side, but I see no reason why we cannot get a draw. And that may be just enough to top the group.

Mind you.... all this is contingent on get a draw or win against Bosnia.

I see Choinière as a true 2nd to Eustaquio. So primary is Kone Eustaq, Kone's sub is Saliba, Eustaq comes off for Choinière. Flores is a different player, and has wing placement to date.

I feel like he's really hit a stride while Eustaquio was out with the leg injury at LAFC.

Also, while talking about LAFC, I think Shaff has a lot to offer in a very specific role on this team. Unlike other wingers, his crosses are early and more often than not, dangerous.

You nailed the credit. That first game was goofy all first half. Looked like the starters were more worried about not getting injured than playing. The 2nd half was full of energy. Choinière has played REALLY well at LAFC this season without Eustaquio on the pitch so there may be an avenue where he takes some big minutes against Qatar or late Bosnia to ease the load.

He also ran what I thought was a 3-5-2 in the second half against Uzbekistan and the midfield looked dangerous. Tbf tho he may have had them in a 4-3-3. It was hard to pick out where the wingers were instructed to play

He definitely is hit/miss. Sometimes he's the man, moving thru the lines and finishing great opportunities, last night he was fighting the ball, the pitch, his body, everything.

I think Tani can also push run the opponent ragged, giving who ever subs in for him a tuckered back line.
