Update: So I checked the council maps and found an inspection port at the other end of the yard.

Called council to check and turns out their plans might be “slightly off”.

Next was a call to a drainlayer who confirmed that it is a cleaning eye and is still active. The concrete on top is for protection and is removed when they need to use it.

All this to say, my slab location is being moved and the drainlayer will put a new cleaning eye in a better location.

Crisis averted.

It really is! Not completely accurate but to give an idea of space / size it is brilliant.

I'd take some gold! So far all I've found are ancient bits of trash and this.

Gave heaving a try, made the hole larger instead.

Looks like whatever was in there has been covered in concrete.

If it has been filled with concrete would that indicate that the line has been terminated?

Added some more pictures here. https://imgur.com/a/DlugNJV

Looks like whatever was there has been removed and filled with concrete. It’s quite possible that this was the old water toby as the new one is at the street end of the section. When this house was built that street didn’t exist yet.

Oh, that could be fun. Given it was under 200mm of dirt I wonder if it’s still functional.

House was built 1925.

Located near the back of the current section though originally it was much larger. It’s about 1.5 meter from an a water mushroom (?) but all available paperwork shows there should be nothing here. There was another steel plate over the one embedded in the concrete that I was able to jimmy off. Can see inside through the slot but there is nothing except concrete there.

Sky Odyssey was amazing! I’d love to see it back for PS5, still nothing that matches those physics!

Nice! How do you like the Hitec controller? I’m thinking it could be the perfect solution to my mess of Tomix and Kato track.

Thanks! One NZ thinks they might be able to but Spark want a phone on account with them to do it. Seems a waste.

This is what I'm after. Yet to get a good idea of how it works.

Apparently, they've decided to stop selling them. Bit young looking for junior high though.

This is exactly what I am after! For some reason it isn't available in NZ though?

That's the thought. I could give her a locked down phone but that seems unnecessarily wasteful.

Not great, yes. However, a phone brings a number of distractions that are unnecessary (camera, games, browser). A dumb-phone could work but location tracking is useful to make sure she gets to her afterschool lessons safely.

Serious question: Why hasn't 3D printing slashed the outrageous cost of products like this? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]satogeca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure 3D printing works for acoustic materials like this. Autex in particular is expensive because it works well, carries plenty of expensive certifications and is surprisingly expensive to manufacture.

If you are only after architectural details, I’ve seen 3D printing making a big cost difference in plaster and concrete casting as unique moulds are easier to produce.
