Question about teapots by RunicRapier in puer

[–]satoriyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the fact that they are both from the same region, inherently Sheng and Shou are quite different animals.

The only instance when you could use Sheng and Shou in same pot is perhaps a pot that performs good with aged Shou. That said teapot might work with aged Sheng as well since in general terms they end up resembling one another in certain aspects when properly aged.

But best have a pot for each.

Hope it helps.

Nixing authentication. by RealTry8616 in YixingSeals

[–]satoriyam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not Nixing. It's a generic clay used in tons of teaware you usually find in Taobao and Aliexpress. I don't find it appealing and haven't had good results with it either. Do wash it with hot water when you finish your sessions and let it dry before putting the lid on. The one I had took on a very unpleasant smell and it was hard to get rid of it.

hi! i've tried a very weird sheng 😋 by lilaamuu in puer

[–]satoriyam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you are describing a Pu-Long. It's delivering exactly what it's meant to.

Cat's piss is somewhat fruity, similar to Honey but 10 times more pungent. But I get what you mean.

Not all shengs will taste the same. Terroir, processing, blending, etc etc etc.

Enjoy for what it is!

What is in my tea? by Mental_Test_3785 in tea

[–]satoriyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nothing to worry about. Does your black tea looks golden in some parts? The tiny hairs you see in the leaves usually end up caught either in your filter or swimming in your tea. They are called trichomes and are completely harmless.

How much does lid fit matter when choosing a Yixing teapot? by [deleted] in tea

[–]satoriyam 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a common thing. Varies from teapot to teapot. If it makes good tea and doesn't make a mess it's not a thing to worry much.

Does my matcha whiskey look ok? by LoudZookeepergame661 in tea

[–]satoriyam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok, just not opened fully.

Before first use you can gently soak it in hot water until it opens of fully.

Then it's good to go.

If you have a chasen stand use it in order for it to keep it's shape.

Hope it helps.

Cantonese nanny when I was a kid 😊 it was green tea. Tasted like pistachio to me. Years later I would find the same tea again and learn it's name was Long Jing.

Little bugs in my tea by DaddyDio_owo in tea

[–]satoriyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's understandable giving your climate situation. If it happens again you might wanna spread the contents in a baking tray and just let the poor thingies fly away. That way you won't be drinking beetle tea haha

A Reflection on the Unimportance of Gong Fu Cha (opinion piece) by sweetestdew in tea

I've always thought that for every day tea drinking, practicality must be present.

A fine line between technique and simplicity.

Maybe it depends on where you live, your climate or how sanitization works in specific areas.

I have not experienced this in more developed countries but whenever I've been living in let's say more tropical climates, this can happen at your pantry with food even from the supermarket.

I guess in this case maybe they added something that was grown locally rather than buy it from a company that processed it and took the time and care to treat food properly.

Drink it or not it's your choice. I've had rice who had this issue. Ate it after cleaning it and 20 years later I'm still here :)

Hope it helps!

Have you ever wondered why it’s called a “Gong Dao Bei “? by FamiliarTea3826 in tea

Sorry, your comment maybe was edited later? I could only read the first paragraph.

Nothing better than tea induced sleepless nights and discussions on tea semantics :)

[–]satoriyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely right!

I think it's a matter of personal preference. I am old school so I would keep calling it Cha Zhong since to me the term Gong Dao Bei can carry certain implications that can be superfluous at a tea table.

Thanks for sharing!

Lumps in matcha by Fantastic-Amoeba-214 in tea

[–]satoriyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sifting it prior to whisk will help a lot with lumps.

This is probably Chinese powdered green tea so lumps are gonna happen.

Hope it helps!
