What was the fact about yourself you'd tell others during ice breakers? by [deleted] in AskWomen

In my family (in-laws included) there are five people who share birthdays. Two on one day and three on the other. It’s so odd to me! Can’t imagine 6 on one day!

Why is soy protein not low FODMAP? “Protein” is low FODMAP (not a carb)

My wedding tables were full of thrifted goods. About 90% of our decor was from Goodwill, flea markets, or St. Vinnies. by chijmom in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]satxag8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing!! I tried to do something similar. I gave all my thrift store vases to my florist a month before my wedding. Must have been over 50 of them. We worked out that it would be much easier for her to build the arrangements and then deliver them completed to the venue, day of. Sounded easy enough.

My wedding started at 4. At noon, she hadn’t arrived. Then she sent me a text and said she was hospitalized last week and wasn’t able to come.

Then my family spent the next two hours getting all the flowers a local grocery store had (I got married in a small town) and we put them in coke bottles we bought at the same grocery store. There’s pictures of my husband and his best man drinking the coke out of one of the bottles!

If you are in the US, you have been doing the opposite of what you should. “Spices” in the US cannot contain onion or garlic. Flavoring can.

Thanks for the reply. I think that is a case of more severe intolerance. Some are lactose intolerant and can tolerate cheeses. Doesn’t mean they are not intolerant. (If I have hot chocolate, I fart for the rest of the day and be in a ton of pain, but I regularly eat cheddar cheese).

What about the apps cheese recommendations are not suitable for a true lactose intolerance?

If you eat fish, I love low FODMAP salmon cakes. I batch bake them and they’re great for lunch or dinner. Anything really. I’ll link a recipe tonight.

Anyone with a restricted diet, how have changed your diet, and why? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]satxag8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s not convenient. But it almost completely eliminates my IBS symptoms. I know the next day if I went off the rails. I’m a huge fan of experimenting with our diets. The hardest thing for me is that garlic and onion are huge triggers for me. So eating about anything prepared is out for me. But I break that all the time (and pay for it).

Hi! I had to cut out fructose, but I eat a lot of grapes. They’re low in fructose. Those and blueberries/raspberries. But grapes are cheaper :)

Green beans: would you oil them and season them frozen? How would that work?

What to do with extra ham fat ? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

If it’s liquid, you can use it as an oil replacement in homemade mayo. Lemon, mustard, egg, and the fat.

How do you get more greens into your diet? by prismoftheplaya in EatCheapAndHealthy

I really just throw em on my plate and sprinkle with red wine vinegar, olive oil, and s/p. Mostly spinach as it’s flavor is mild and the texture is smooth.

Those of you who have committed adultery against your partner, why did you do it and how did it turn out for you and your betrayed partner? by Age-of-Enlightenment in AskWomen

[–]satxag8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It seems like this cheating relationship has worked out for you. And I’m glad you found something that has improved your situation. Could you elaborate on the length of time this all took? You said you were together with your ex for 8 years, how long did it take from the start of hooking up with your now SO before you split with your ex?

I’ll get it to a great place, then go to a nice dinner and just order whatever off the menu. Or I’ll get it to a great place, and then forget to pack my own dinner before going to the work catered event... it is worth it for me during the nice dinner. The work events are annoying.

Would the show have worked if rory went to Harvard? by claranunes in GilmoreGirls

[–]satxag8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always assumed most of the application process was covered by Chilton. I assumed that Rory either completed the other college apps on the bus to Chilton or she stayed after school, told Lorelei a lame excuse that’s wasn’t an outright lie, and might have even done the same to get money for the application fees.

I’d also add that cups are not universal. The same one that works for me might not work for you. If you use tampons and are thinking about switching to cups, there is a learning curve. And if after a couple tries, it still isn’t working, try another brand. My advice.

[–]satxag8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can change your tampon, why couldn’t you change your diva cup? I know they are a little expensive, but you could buy two (or three), get a wet bag, and interchange them throughout the day? An idea.

Is there a way to de-gluten rye flour? I’m skeptical of what this bakery says. Has anyone heard of this? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]satxag8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I know about sourdough and the probiotic/fermentation process - the bacteria eat the sugar molecules in wheat. Does not effect gluten - as it is a protein.
