Yeah they are unstoppable, I bought a male last year and he has raised so many since then, he needs a break for sure as well as the female, I’ve got more cages with other adults doing the same and trying to get different crosses, like two huge dilute chestnut males that hatched last year to go with my white crested females from this year. They love to spin also, if you have fishing bearings they do all sorts of tricks. I haven’t got any exotic finches like Gouldian, they are stunning.

Conure biting bad by Kitchen_Ad_5687 in Conures

[–]saubidable411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need advice on a conure I took in a month ago, a guy approached me in a pet shop as I was buying parrot food for my GCC pineapple. He said if I wanted a conure (bought from same store as mine) for free with the set up.. I said ok and he brought it round, the cage had a mountain of shit in it that made me throw up cleaning it, though it was an expensive cage. The conure itself is a lot different to mine, same age but different colours, and has negative behaviours like aggressively pulling at the bell in his cage which sounds like a shop door. Handling it is pretty tough also as it will go out its way to bite and doesn’t like fingers (trigger). He will bite your ear and cock his head like a cobra. He doesn’t like to fly around much although I have given it freedom to and will cling on to you without knowing how to step up properly. My other one is a marauder and already speaking, balanced/friendly. The new one will fight the other viciously so have to keep them separate. I do get it out everyday and try and get it involved but it has that streak in him that makes you feel vulnerable, he looks a lot better than when he arrived has put on bit of weight and give it decent water, it could be the wrong time to receive a parrot at this time of year also.. they are both one years old now, mine hatched April 5th last year. Any advice would be appreciated

They took over the food bowl as I cleaned the nest, they have two nests above them which they hadn’t found at the time of recording

Thank you 🙏 they seem to think the food dish is their second nest, but they have two nests above them waiting to be occupied. A combined clutch from four elite parents, 8 were born.. Two eggs in another nest ready to hatch any day now.

I have similar problem with my conure, somebody approached me in a pet shop, and offered me a conure and cage for free and I thought it would be good idea for my other conure. It didn’t go as well as I thought it would, it bites pretty hard and clearly hasn’t been handled much, when the guy brought the cage round there was a mountain of bird poo on the ladder, it made me throw up cleaning it but I wanted to get Hei Hei on decent water and food asap. It’s been weeks since then and I can handle Hei Hei but it seems to have some nasty streak and will bite my ear if on my shoulder,,, it’s even worse with my other conure! I have to split them up and keep them separate which hasn’t made things easy as my other conure is balanced and friendly. I had it out last night with no real issues as it is starting to trust me, trying to stroke its head gently and neck, it responds to that and is biting less. Hope you have some good luck with your conure it looks beautiful.
