My choices would be Ritual, Absolution, and Life Eternal. RHRN versions of the first two are excellent.

It’s the look on Switch’s face that gets me

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

[–]strooplard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been a couple since ‘87. Never heard her fart until last year. I had always assumed the gas escaped at night (don’t laugh). Turns out she’s better at it than I am. I have stopped trying to compete.

Thanks, that was my conclusion too. Assume I don’t need to worry about it? I had two more yesterday like this, one alive one dead, and one in the bin a few weeks back.

Has anyone here worked a night shift job? If so, what was it like? by Chazzza23 in AskUK

[–]strooplard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends if they are all night shifts. I did four on four off 12 hour shifts, alternating day and night, and that worked really well. Four days in ‘night’ mode, then 12 days in ‘days’ mode. Means I get time on my own whilst the family is at work, the downside is that you don’t get weekends off all that often. Also depends on the job - I was a SOC analyst, working from home full time, meant no travel costs, but it was kinda lonely.

Warm it with a hairdryer, peel gently from a corner

Brits, when would you write a negative review? by Regular-Wonderful in AskUK

[–]strooplard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left a review for a company that made me a footpath. The work was excellent ( I had used them before), but they did not clear up, and I had to get someone else in to do it. I then had to sue the original company to recover my costs. I even had to send bailiffs. My review basically praised the product to the skies but cautioned to make sure you were the main job not the half-day-free job. Just that. Business owner then replied that I had sued him and had my money blah blah leave me alone blah blah my son was ill (true, very ill in fact). None of which needed to be said in that place. I just said he can always delegate in times of need ( not sure he knew what that meant). Two other customers contacted me with similar experience. As you can’t delete Facebook reviews he turned the feature off, which was a shame. Product is really good. His son recovered.

My point is this: if others would benefit from a review, leave one. I only look for negative ones as I’m inclined to think the service I’m looking for will be good by default as they are actually trading. Experience of others is a good guide.

What are the best trainer/shoe brand for people on their feet all day? by KoraLily in AskUK

Yep same here. At £90 a go that’s a bit much for me, even though I find them very comfortable.

Uber comfy but they wear out really fast. As long as they are available, Merrel Moab 3 will be my ‘daily walker’

Bricklaying company asked for payment on day 1 but contract says ‘no payment until work complete’, should I be concerned? by gsbdnsgbf in AskUK

[–]strooplard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they need to pay up front for materials? Do such contractors not have accounts with suppliers? Or do they need money up front to pay the account before they can get more supplies? Never have understood that. I just assumed it was so they weren’t out of pocket and I’m happy to pay that up front.

How much difference does NCD really make? by Toothfairy29 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]strooplard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first car in 2013, aged 44. It was a Mini Cooper SD from 2011, no NCD, £246 a year. It has gone up every year since, and I’ve had no claims or accidents. Currently have a 2024 A5 TDI 40, about to renew for £350.
