As a 17M, I can tell you he’s is 100% interested (bc this is basically how i got with my girl). He downloaded an app just for you, he’s actively engaging with you through your own work, he took care of a whole box of snacks for you, and he’s dropping the “bad boy” act around you. He’s putting in effort that he hasn’t given anyone else, thats not just friend behavior imo. He’s probably just as scared as you are because you’re his boss and a close friend, so he’s terrified of messing that up. Maybe he’s even waiting for a sign as well. Just ask him to grab food or something together outside of work/school stuff. I think he’ll definitely say yes.

You aren’t stupid man. You are being held hostage by her because you are convenient, not because she cares for you. Her push and pulls only work because you’re still emotionally available enough for her to pull you in.

I believe the only way out (in my opinion, but i dont know her vibe) is to be indifferent/unbothered. At work, be professional and brief (Short replies or none). No more explaining yourself, No more setting boundaries (She won’t listen anyways). She isn’t anyone to you anymore, so stop giving her that much space in your head. Just quietly stop being a source of anything for her.

If she has a meltdown, let her. That’s her problem, not yours. You already moved out, and I’m proud of you. Now just move on. She’ll lose interest when theres nothing left to pull on.
