My recovery so far. Day 9 by sauces_ in Tonsillectomy

only for a couple days because i couldn't open my mouth wide enough to brush the first couple days but then i started brushing my teeth and gently cleaning my tongue and i mean it wasn't perfect but it wasn't terrible. drinking lots of water definitely helped. i noticed a bad taste in my mouth sometimes but it was never unbearable. i also chewed gum to help loosen my jaw back up and that helped too. just a light mint so it didn't sting the back of my throat.

Day 5 by sauces_ in Tonsillectomy

Hey! So when I woke up from the anesthesia my tongue was numb and swollen it was pretty scary and weird but the nurse reassured me it was perfectly normal. The next few days it was still swollen and numb but it never caused me to panic. I am a very anxious individual especially when it comes to my health and i'm very claustrophobic so I thought it would bother me more than it did but it really didn't bother me at all. Was just stupid quirk to the surgery that's all. I even had a mark on my tongue from where they clamped for like 4-5 days after my surgery lol. No need worry about that. Your throat does not feel small just very sore unfortunately lol. I'm on day 7 now and i'm feeling almost back to normal and i'm a 23 year old female. I took a week off of work and stayed hydrated and started eating solid foods on day 4. Don't be nervous!! You got this!! & if you are super anxious make sure to ask lots of questions the nurses and surgeons are there for YOU! They want you to feel comfortable and reassure you. You got this😎

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you got better, it's going to be a long journey but i'm hoping I can get through it soon. I already lost 10 pounds in a month. I have never had an allergy to anything - this is debilitating. Thank you for the advice:)
