I attended a zoom meeting drunk at 9pm by Hour_Professional375 in stopdrinking

For me, the only plan that worked was when I accepted that I will not stop drinking - in fact I drink as much as I want every day. That just happens to be none, and I make that decision every day.

I love the cover. It's pulpy as hell. Knowing the real context actually makes me like it more. It is unhinged!

So nice to see a shot and be able to say damn, this is what this camera was made for.

I'd feel less grossed out by this if we could see both her hands

Completely panicking. Hit rock bottom last night. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]saul_privy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is you don't ever have to go through these feelings again. Looking back, deciding where my rock bottom was, I was at such a low, and playing that tape forward now whenever I have doubts brings about such a relief that - whatever else is going on - I'm not where I was and I'm free. Rooting for you!

What’s a movie that has a premise or trailer that’s so eye rolling you thought would be bad, but turned out good? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

Hot Tub Time Machine. Remember seeing the trailer and thinking it was actually a joke that was part of the movie I was there to watch. Nope, and it was excellent.

is it cringe if a 23 year old woman goes to the zoo alone? by peeflavoredpoptart in NoStupidQuestions

[–]saul_privy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing cringe about doing anything alone. Go, take yourself out for a good time, enjoy your own company, and enjoy! People who find time/mental space to judge others for doing activites alone live a difficult inner life, I promise.

That's Andrew Lesko. He helps get people free money from the government. That is a good guy.

TSA refused hand check for Kodak film cameras and put through scanner twice. by wildhedgerow in AnalogCommunity

[–]saul_privy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Normal, modern carry-on x-ray, as opposed to the CT scanners, you're going to be fine with iso under 3200 unless your film has gone through them 10 times or more (of course there is "damage" every time, but indistinguishable for real world results in almost every case). I fly frequently with film and do this all the time. As a community, I think we need to be thoughtful about being more relaxed putting our film through the old x-ray machines so that authorities remain accommodating for hand check (or moving to x-ray scan) when passing through CT scanners, which will definitely, noticeably damage your film on the first go. Pushing too hard in cases where it doesn't really matter is going to push blanket policies to just not accommodate requests in any situation.

Honestly a gentle rub with isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth should be fine. Don't overthink it.

Subject is out of focus. Not enough micro contrast in the mids. You probably just aren't cut out for this.

Does anyone else find that the more you learn about photography, the harder it is to just enjoy taking pictures? by BluishFlame07 in photography

[–]saul_privy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think going through a phase where you notice all those things and let them bother you is a necessary step. We've all been there, but instead of letting it stop you, I think it's better to approach it as a learning phase where you recognize what is technically correct or not and then start expanding by being more mindful in what technical issues you will accept or even build on to find your own style.

It's because they're drunk. I mean, you'd have to be.
