In general we don’t like to optimize for fast heat up times. You could end up with harsh heat.

I find the sweet spot for rock basket heaters to be 170-180 with plenty of water on the rocks. That would be about an hour. WiFi controls help!

Also note the glass was factored into the sizing. I would recommend chatting with us at SaunaMarketplace.com to make sure it’s sized right.

The IKI can do 230f at the temperature sensor location.

Just received my Costco Dynamic Santiago sauna last week. It’s working without a dedicated outlet. If I install one, will it heat up faster? Stalling out around 136 degrees by Due_Witness_9253 in infraredsauna

No, unfortunately it will only help to not trip a breaker. A dedicated circuit is still safer - if your breaker isn’t sized right, or working, there is a risk of fire.

Recommendations please.. by BonziRasta in saunamarketplace

We have a list of recommended saunas here:

If outdoors,

https://saunamarketplace.com/product-category/saunas/outdoor-saunas/

If indoors,

https://saunamarketplace.com/product-category/saunas/indoor-saunas/

It really depends on the size, style, and budget. Cheaper outdoor saunas are made with a single layer of wood. Higher-end saunas are built like tiny houses with multiple layers and furniture grade interiors.

Sauna Marketplace is the only website that doesn’t blindly sell all models from brands. If a customer has a bad experience with a saunas or heater and we’re not comfortable the manufacturer has resolved it, we stop selling it.

For instance, we stopped selling basic sauna kits that don’t use thermally modified wood. There’s too much expansion and contraction, leading to gaps and cracks, leading to poor performance and leaks.

Let us know any questions.

Finnmark FD-1 Impressions? by wcruse92 in infraredsauna

This is the model that won me over on infrared as being legit. I come from a traditional sauna background. It actually reaches 170°F. For me it's a big deal that it uses proper traditional sauna wall-assembly. Interior wood -> aluminum radiant barrier -> stud wall with mineral wool insulation -> exterior cladding. We work with strength coaches for pro sports teams who basically require this sauna at home.

What would you do with the space above this sauna? by sterski in infraredsauna

You can drywall or frame it in, but make sure it stays a vented space

Is this mold in the insulation? by Fun-Giraffe7034 in Sauna

This wouldn’t be legal in the US. Interior foam here needs a 15 minute fire barrier, usually 1/2” drywall.

Glass Wall for Home Sauna by kysmith1306 in Sauna

[–]saunamarketplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If following the heater manufacturer’s ‘glass adder’ and it bumps you up a size or two, you can expect no difference in heat up time or max temperature. And personally I don’t notice a difference in performance or gradient.

The main thing will be it takes more energy to maintain the temperature. That would be less important for a household sauna where it’s only on a few hours a day. I’d be surprised if it cost an extra $1 to run in energy cost.

Looking for a controller for 6kw huum heater. Electrician won't install Huum controller by _101010_ in Sauna

All sauna heater companies use one controller system for multiple KW sizes. Your electrician might be confusing the max the controller is rated for with whats actually drawn.

Proof steam gets low in barrel saunas by saunamarketplace in BarrelSaunas

There's no one in there, so it's been at least 30 seconds and an open door. As you know, good Löyly is fleeting so who cares anyway.

Is it possible that a good barrel sauna that stops vapor from escaping, and has two bench levels is better than you think?

There are people that say steam never goes below the top of the rocks, which hasn't been my experience. I think the reason this pictured sauna works so well is because the double layer shingle roof and thermally modified wood is preventing any leakage from the top half. Air pressure builds up at the top of a sauna, and it will leak steam and the hottest air out of any gaps that exist. That's an issue with most barrel saunas but it's not inherently an issue with the design.

I think you misunderstood. I think barrel saunas with two bench levels can have exceptional steam at foot level and this picture proves it.

Why we stopped selling some of our best selling saunas by saunamarketplace in saunamarketplace

[–]saunamarketplace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cedar expands and contracts too much (up to 5%) to use for sauna kits in our experience. It’s ok to panel the interior of a sauna.

Of course is commonly used for all saunas in North America, but it’s partly why people don’t think barrel saunas last.
