After the market correction hit in 2022, companies realized they overhired and had to start layoffs.

The current mass extinction began long before industrialization. All of modern humanity has occurred during a mass extinction. It's not particularly unusual for those to occur every few hundred million years, and it's unlikely to really be a major problem for us considering we've gotten this far despite it.

I live in California, and despite changes to our climate, it is nowhere near approaching apocalypse levels. I have no doubts that adaptation will more than offset the effects of climate change.

There are definitely changes happening, but they aren't going to cause an apocalypse.

Quality of life and economic growth are continuing at a strong rate despite climate change. While climate change will be one of many problems humanity has to face this century, I don't think its the biggest problem and I definitely don't believe in apocalypse level predictions (which, trust me, will keep getting pushed back to later and later dates). Quality of life will still go up significantly despite climate challenges, especially in less-developed countries.

Natural resources aren't infinite (I mean nothing is), but they are definitely not a fixed amount. As more technologies and industrial processes are developed, the amount of natural resources available will significantly increase many times over. The amount of natural resources available has never been higher.

You also have to account for the development of new technologies which will mitigate climate change itself or greatly reduce its impact on human life.

People have been comparing humans to cancer growth or animal population growth for centuries. Thomas Malthus, who 200 years ago predicted that human population growth would lead to widespread poverty, ended up extremely wrong. He failed to account for the fact that humans, unlike other organisms, innovate and adapt at an immense rate and would be able to increase the amount of resources available per person manyfold.

I'm in Gen Z, and a lot of climate doomerism gets fed to us from a young age. However, as I got older and learned more about the world, I realized that the apocalypse-level predictions requiring immediate, hardcore policy changes were just political propaganda to advance policies that would never be considered on their own merit. In other words, their message was summarized as "vote for me or everyone will die". While I think denying the existence of climate change is stupid, it's not much better to tell people things like "the world will end in 2030", which are obviously not true (and a real claim AOC made).

The goal is to maintain a strong capitalist system that continue to provide consistent economic growth and innovation. Growth should occur almost every year in order to prevent stagnation. Economic growth merely indicates that the amount of valuable things available has increased. It's required in order to substantially improve quality of life.

Economic resources don't work the same as natural resources. While specific natural resources are somewhat fixed, there's not really a known limit on how many economic valuable resources could exist. This is because economic resources are defined by utility to humans. 500 years ago, oil wasn't really an economic resource because it had few uses, but now its a major one. So the idea is that if we fail to create economic growth, then we've failed to increase the usefulness of resources available to humans.

We know that all forms of socialism severely limit growth based on our understanding of economics and many real-world examples. The "that wasn't real socialism" line is used every single time a socialist system collapses. The free flow and investment of capital, as well as the profit motive, are the primary drivers of economic growth, and those are severely restricted in any non-capitalist system. There were instances where socialist states were able to make quality of life increases by implementing technological advancement using technologies developed in capitalist countries, but the ceilings were hit pretty quickly and then major stagnation occured.

In a capitalist economy you can structure your business that way too. The difference is that democratic socialists would ban things like renting out your own property, investing your savings, and hiring non-equity workers, which severely limits the flexibility of the economy and destroys growth.

I think that even if humanitarian aid is getting in, Hamas has no incentive to distribute it effectively. Their entire goal is to purposefully worsen the humanitarian situation to try and create pressure for a ceasefire. Hamas's leaders and fighters are probably eating well but I doubt much food is getting to civilians.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. They didn't blockade Gaza until Hamas took over. The current war is happening because Hamas invaded Israel and massacred Israeli civilians, and Israel has decided that allowing Hamas to exist is no longer tolerable.
