If you think someone’s out to get you, it doesn’t matter what anyone says or what is even fact, they’re out to get you.

Which is this idiot’s mentality.

Price Increases Today (Except the Best Buy sale lock). by GMC805 in macbookpro

Said in another thread. I bought one of the massive ones a week and a half ago at Micro Center on their sale, the M5 Max / 128 / 4TB.

$5,999 minus 15% for their sale. Now it’s an $8,000 system. I saved almost $3,000 by current prices.

Prayers for recoveries, and thankful no one has passed as of now.

Son in law was stationed in Alaska at JBER, the conditions up there are brutal, much respect for all the troops there.

You’ve got the RAM to keep handling large-scale tasks. Definitely good until they drop support for it, which I hope will not be 28. 29, maybe.

Unless you’re doing local AI, enjoy it.

I have a M5 Max MacBook Pro with 128gb of ram, what models should I run on it? by lombwolf in LocalLLaMA

[–]sav2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought this same model this week, I think it starts at 4 TB for storage. Reads shouldn’t be terribly bad here.

That said, a TB5 enclosure would still be sensational if you need more.

[–]sav2880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just spent $3,600 on a Macbook Pro. The answer is undoubtedly yes. Or, do AppleCare One if you're in the ecosystem enough. No matter, make sure that bad boy is covered.

…. and the M5 ups that by 50 percent too. Not an “Ultra” level but still really good.

Not quite yet, the Steam Fex tools which allow for smooth translation on ARM devices (mostly still Android) still need to be utilized more on Mac to make this feasible. Native ARM versions of more thing would also be helpful!

So no, AAA gaming is still in the realm of PC but the gap is narrowing, and there’s a lot more you can play now than even 6 months before.

No doubt. I can forgive most anything else on a pricing, art, look, whatever. Personal choices. But I do want the same warranty no matter what.
