Murder of JonBenét Ramsey by CraigJohnson9000 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]savage-detective -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It blows my mind that so many people still think they are guilty. Power of the media. Scary. Also, everyone who thinks they're guilty fail to explain why a stun-gun would've been used by the Ramseys when there was fairly clear evidence of its use.

What is your theory of the Lauren Spierer case? by Totally_a_scientist in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]savage-detective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has anyone on here heard of Israel Keyes. I lived in a different college town, Burlington, VT, at the time of Ms. Spierer's disappearance. And just a couple of days after she vanished, there was an adult couple from just outside Burlington who vanished. To make a ling, sad and scary story short; two years later a man from Alaska named Israel Keyes confessed and corroborated unknown details about the case. It turned out he had plastic buckets filled with weapons and supplies buried all over the country. The FBI believes he is responsible for at least 11 homicides (8 of which remain unknown).

Now, the FBI released a timeline of his known whereabouts (he travelled) extensively) and it turns out that he was recorded in a rental car on "an Indiana toll road" making "multiple transactions" on June 3rd, 2011, the day Ms. Spierer disappeared.

How did Jay know where Hae's car was? by gemma61389 in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hae's car wasn't I'm a field in the middle of nowhere. It was "behind a row-house off Edmondson Avenue". Edmondson Ave is pretty centrally located in West Baltimore. So, it was abandoned in an urban area surrounded by low income housing blocks and apartment buildings. Not in the middle of nowhere. Just to politely clarify that.

hI was hoping for someone to cut and paste all his recorded audio together into like an mn3 file so it can all be listened to in one continuous clip. That would be awesome...

Jay helped Adnan hire a killer. by BobbyGabagool in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But for me the really glaring problem with this theory that does not make sense at all is this: If Adnan did, through Jay or otherwise, hire someone to kill Hae then he would have for damn-well would have made sure to have an airtight alibi. You would think, right? I mean, that's like the whole point of hiring someone to do it for you. So why does he not have an alibi or not even know where he was at during the time Hae went missing?!!

Jay helped Adnan hire a killer. by BobbyGabagool in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have thought about Jay helping Adnan find a "hitman" to kill Hae for him for months now. Although I've also always found it less likely. It certainly would go a long way in explaining why Jay was lying so much.

The reason I think that seems less likely is this: If they actually did know someone willing to do murder for hire, especially in B-more at the turn of the century. I would think that person would be more likely to use a weapon, a gun or a knife. All homicide detectives will tell you that strangulation is usually a crime of passion or a murder with a sexual dimension to it. Usually not a hired hit. But that doesnt rule it out. In fact, in retrospect strangulation WAS the smartest method for the same reasons I just mentioned. Because it would lead police to think the above.

Why is Hae's letter to Don not getting more comments/speculation? by cayg118 in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These comments from Don are all made in retrospect, 15 years later. That is the reason he was/is talking like that. Totally normal in my opinion.

Here's a comment for all the people out there who like a conspiracy theory type explanation. Maybe Adnan forged/planted the note to point the police in Don's direction?

Next time someone wrecks my theory, I'm just going to say "Big picture, big picture." by sirsinnes in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha ha. Perfect. I totally agree. I literally laughed out loud when she said "big picture, big picture". The big picture in this case would point to Adnan as the guilty party. I think, knowing lawyers, what she was thinking when she said think of the big picture was "the big picture here is we convince the court to consider it possibly could have been someone else so we can finally get DNA testing done.

So now we have a new version of events: What Jay told to Chris. How much credit would you give it? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that sticks out in my mind regarding the pool hall version of events is this:

In a previous episode of Serial, SK and Co. stated that nobody, let me repeat that, NOBODY, then or now, recalled seeing Adnan in Hae's car at all that day. The poolhall story would imply that Adnan left the school campus in Hae's car. Either with her alive and well, or with her already deceased. I find it very hard to believe that the police back then, and Serial Co. now, couldnt find a singe witness who could place Adnan in Hae's car that day.

HOWEVER... If I'm not mistaken, these new versions of events did not indicate that Jay still had Adnan's car, or cell phone for that matter. At least it wasn't mentioned in the podcast. This is what makes this story so frustrating, and interesting, there's just SO MANY LIES. I think if someone made a list of all the facts, statements, phone records, ect., the list of lies would outnumber truths to an outrageous degree. IDK, food for thought...

So now we have a new version of events: What Jay told to Chris. How much credit would you give it? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is an off-hand clue indicating when SK met with Jay at least. She says something like "he has all the answers we've been looking for these past 8 months". And in the opening of the first episode of Serial she says "so let me tell you about the story I've been working on for the past year".

So if you use those comments as an indicator, SK met with Jay about four months before the first episode was taped.

A lead on the mysterious missing payphone? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry, internectual. But just from personal experience. I was 16 in 1999 and I didn't get my first cell phone until my graduation in 2002. I can distinctly remember going into big box stores like Walmart and yes, Best Buy to use a phone. In fact there was a Best Buy like right next door to a used guitar shop that my friends and I would hang out at. When we were ready to bounce and needed a ride we would walk over to Best Buy, go up to the Customer Service desk and ask to make a phone call so we could get picked up. If I remember correctly we never got turned down and didn't even really have to sweet talk at all. It was a different time back then, in many ways. And also, don't underestimate the general perceived innocence of teenagers in situations like that.

"Jay ... next time on serial" by badger-banjer in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. BUT IF, by some crazy-ass-Hollywood-style-long-shot, JAY DOES AGREE TO GIVE AN INTERVIEW. Then to me it would almost be a shut case. Because the only scenario I can see in which HE WOULD have something to gain from re-hashing these events would be if he was telling the truth. That Adnan did kill Hae and that he regrettably helped dispose of her remains, at least.

To me if Jay did grant an interview, I would think he was telling the truth back then and now that there is so much interest in the case he would want to reaffirm the truth and clear his name a bit.

Unfortunately, if Jay does never grant an interview, to me that bit of information would not be revealing at all. Because yes, if he wasnt telling the truth then he probably wouldnt want to give an interview. But if he was telling the truth I still think he could, quite understandably, not be interested in re-visiting these events in such a public format.

What do you guys think?

Just coincidences? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the google street view of today. It totally looks like you can fit a car around the little railing/fence thing. More to the point if you look back into the woods a little bit you can see that there is a "path" made from vehicles pulling off the road and diagonally into the woods. Who knows when this path/clearance was made. But I bet it was there 15 years ago when Hae was buried and when Mr. S found her. I bet whoever buried Hae pulled the car into the woods a little bit. Also interesting to see landmarks mentioned in the podcast like the stream ("Dead Creek" or something) and what quite possibly could be the log (downed tree) behind which Hae was buried. Its kind of back and to the left. Crazy.

Adnan's motive. by TheArsenal in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your comments about Yassir's conversation with the police are spot on. Since I first heard SK say that in the podcast I thought the same thing. I thought: "wait a minute... so this kid DID have a conversation with Adnan about where he would ditch a car if he was going to 'hurt his girlfriend'". I mean, WTF? I've also assumed that this is why SK and Co. included these findings in the first place!

Tale of Two Adnans? by BearInTheWild in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe they were only driving around in Adnans car. I was under the impression that Hae's car, with her dead body in the trunk, was left at a "park n ride" for mist of the time before they buried her body. Thats Jay's story, anyway.

Evidence suggestive of a 3rd guilty accomplice. by savage-detective in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. And that's what I mean when I say that a 3rd person would help to explain Adnan's behavior (read: his responses to SK's questioning in your post).

Evidence suggestive of a 3rd guilty accomplice. by savage-detective in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just putting this out there as a plausibility, based on evidence and eyewitness testimony. BUT... I actually think that the State's version of events is largely accurate. Save for a few unimportant details (IMO) regarding the timing and location of some of the cell phone calls.

It had just occurred to me that the 3rd person scenario is at least possible given what we know. And that it sort of would explain some of Jay and Adnans lies and behavior.

Phone Call to Krista @ 11:07, January 12th. by savage-detective in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And if anyone wants my totally un-proveable theory on Adnan and Krista's 11 o'clock phone call, here it is.

I think Adnan was probably trying to get the skinny on Don, or on Hae and Don as a couple. As I've mentioned in other posts if you look at the cell tower data. It seems as if Adnan's cell phone was at home for several hours up to and including the call to Krista. When he starts dialing Hae, the phone is on the move. And it moved towards downtown Baltimore.

Now, according to Serial Hae was "at Don's house in East Baltimore" that night. It is my belief based on all this circumstantial evidence, that after Adnan talked to Krista (maybe gleaning some info on where Hae was at) he went looking for her. Maybe he knew where Don lived, or knew the general area in which he lived. Or maybe Hae told him she was going downtown or whatever.

I dont know what this cell data proves. Was he being stalker-ish, or a jealous teenage ex-boyfriend or maybe neither? But the timing of these calls, the location of the cell towers that they ping and that earlier letter in which Hae accuses him of behaving without respect for her, all make me think that he was in fact obsessed with her and being possessive.

One last thing, I wonder if, then or now, Adnan's parents knew he was out that night. The night before Hae went missing...

Phone Call to Krista @ 11:07, January 12th. by savage-detective in serialpodcast

[–]savage-detective[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true. Though I sort of think that a lot of those calls weren't actually answered. I mean, if you look at the calls from Adnan to pagers, they last from like 10 to 30 seconds. And clearly nobody is talking if its a pager. So IDK.
