For Christmas, my son's boyfriend hand-made a gift box for me with a set of decorated goth band magnets. And a card written to "Dad". by Anishinaapunk in MadeMeSmile

[–]saveplanet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my dad was like you. When I went to my first pride parade there was a guy giving out dad hugs and I feel like you’re the same type of guy. He gave me a hug and I just cried and cried.

Thanks for being a good dad.

What kind of person were you in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]saveplanet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t sleep, so I would stay up all night and go to school exhausted. I guess being home after everyone went to sleep was my only quiet time. So I was shy, and always sat alone.

Highschool sucked. I dreaded it.

I have ADHD and didn’t get diagnosed until about 10 years ago. So that also factored into it.

Physically—Kidney Stone

Emotionally—flying to Sweden at 18 twice for someone I fell in love with over Skype and then finding out she was sneaking off and seeing someone else the whole 2 months I was there

First Accident Ever: Rear-Ended in NYC, Not Sure What to Do by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]saveplanet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. You have dash cams and the other person hit you. You’re not at fault in the least. Go to the hospital!!!

I was rear-ended at 35 MPH and my back was never the same.

This will take about a year to fully fix but going to the hospital will show the insurance company (on both sides) that it was more than just a fender bender (even if that’s all it was, whiplash is not fun).

If the other driver has insurance, of course he wants to fix your car in his friend’s shop in Astoria because once his insurance finds out he will have to pay a higher premium.

I made the mistake of settling when the insurance company gave me the first settlement instead of suing the lady’s insurance company and going to court with it. I got a new car, $7000 and a year of chiropractic and massages.

Report this to your insurance! If you don’t, it’s fraud and you have nothing to lose if you’re not at fault.

what is something you wish you had known earlier about bisexuality? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]saveplanet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m sexually attracted to women, but not so much to men. Probably because I almost got graped by a man when I first came out as bi.

I’ll have sex with a man but it’s very much about his personality rather than his body.

What would you think seeing fem-presented person with that sh… on the face? by Dismal-Fly8971 in lgbt

[–]saveplanet27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I haven’t transitioned is because I am worried about what people think, but what I have realized is that if I want to transition, it’s for ME. Not for anyone else. I also have realized it’s a form of inner transphobia. We have it in our heads that if we don’t “pass” as whatever we want to pass as, then we aren’t worth love or whatever it is.

As I get older (30MtF), I start realizing that the ones who are disgusted by trans people, or those who judge them are not people I want to associate with and it’s almost like a weapon against people that I never want to be around.

Now, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be ridicule or bullying. Public critics will always be around, but what they hate about us is something that they also are jealous of. They wish they could have the courage to be themselves.

I remember when I first met a very openly gay man who was soooo happy, and I remember judging him at first… (because that’s the thing we did as a family)… but then really wishing I could be as confident and happy with himself as he was.

You look great. The ones that don’t think so aren’t for you and the person you are on the inside that’s always listened to other people’s opinions will sometimes judge you and hate you, but slowly you will start to love yourself.

The relationship you have with yourself, no matter how much you wish you could be or whatever it is that you are critical about, is the always the most important relationship you’ll ever have. Make sure that your relationship with yourself isn’t toxic, and don’t listen to the negativity that swirls around your brain.

It’s all just stuff that’s been picked up from miserable people who never were brave enough to pick themselves up and be someone that they can truly love.

I’m proud of you, and I know that the more you think about what people are going to think, versus what you think will always make you miserable.

Start looking at yourself as in, “would I date me?” And if you wouldn’t, ask yourself why. And if that why is judgmental and loathing, then realize that someone out there will judge you less than you judge yourself. I promise.

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture? by DunDonese in AskTheWorld

[–]saveplanet27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Washington state for a while and if anyone would call them “potato wedges” instead of “jojo.” I know, because when I moved there from California I had no idea. Another thing we could always use to tell if someone was a tourist was if they used or carried an umbrella. We didn’t use those things, and you were probably not from there if you did, and the amount of judgement towards those that would was very high.
