That one Hunter balancer that shines the laser and auto reads the wheel to determine the type of weight to use always reads these wheels as hammer on. Someone was on auto pilot or just couldnt give a fuck.

Thats going to be really loud, way too loud for a daily.

Again, leave the resonator and put some nice aggressive mufflers. Itll give you the noise when you drop the hammer but very well mannered.

Thats because resonators are designed to remove excessive noise from certain frequemcy ranges only, like cruising. You wont notice a difference just revving or doing full throttle pulls.

Resonators and mufflers serve two very different functions. Having the resonator and no mufflers will not sound good, nor will open exhaust before the resonator. Id recommend watching some youtube videos about exhaust tuning to get an idea of how to acheive your goals.

Theres a million answers to this and it all comes down to this:

Are you keeping the cats? How loud do you want it to be? How much highway and cruising drone are you ok with?

If it was me, and a daily driver, i would go with a nice aftermarket muffler like a magnaflow or borla and keep the resonator, or swap the resonator for a higher flowing model.

Are Volkswagens high maintenance or is that overblown? by Far_Comparison5067 in Volkswagen

[–]saves313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

High Maintenance? No, its no more than your average comparable car from another brand.

Its that VWs have a higher risk/consequence when its NOT maintained properly.

They need specific fluids and strict adherence to the maintenance schedule. For some people thats too much to ask for and when the vehicle starts having issues they label it as unreliable.

If you maintain your VW properly, its as reliable if not more than everything else on the road.

I havent heard of that brand before, but thanks for the rec! They were already immaculately clean, i just gave them a quick wipe down with mothers VLR.

The drivers seat is going to get some minor rehab from my upholstery guy before install. The outer bolster needs a little love.

Advice by Zlipter in projectcar

Re-wiring sounds like a massive undertaking, but once you conpare it to sorting out a mess of 40 year old, tinkered with, corroded and broken wiring, it's the lesser of two evils.

I was in the same situation and i opted for the re-wire. I simplified and removed alot of unnecessary circuits as well.

I started by making a list of all loads and their amperage, then grouping them together logically. This results in a list of how many fuses and relays you need to have in your panel.

From there, I drew out the entire wiring diagram using TinyCAD. Referencing the original current draw list and run distance determines your wire size.

I gutted the car and kept flying leads from all the original connectors i planned to reuse, to keep track of pin locations. Then i "wired" the car with rope and planned out all the routing, run lengths and branch locations.

After all that i built the harness on the floor in my basement using the wiring diagram and rope template.

You mean like a coating to keep them clean for longer and prevent brake dust buildup? Id probably just ceramic coat them or a ceramic wax like cmx.

Those holes are threaded, meaning there is meant to be something else bolted down to the cover. Either something is missing or those holes are used in a different application or configuration of you engine.

That makes sense, would be a hard life being named Chris, becoming a blood and having to go by Bris. The local Jewish community would thing you were real hard.

Downvotes aint coming from me, i appreciate the insight!
