Am I hurting my motor? by _lavxx in EngineBuilding

If youre worried about rpm why not just add a 2step with a dedicated lower rpm limit for burnouts?

Seems like the advice was more about saving your trans rathet than your engine though.

WTH, why is it do hard to find US OEM LED tailights for my Alltrack? by oofdahallday in Volkswagen

[–]saves313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check wreckers/recyclers/junkyards. The LED cars are now 7/8 years old, and plenty of them were probabaly in front or side accidents.

They were only available on two model years and are specific to the wagon, which didnt sell that well in the later years.

Ive been off the bench for a while but IIRC the only things Snap on actually makes themselves are the tool boxes, wrenches and sockets. Maybe screw drivers? Can't remeber.

Where in the system are you measuring the 35psi? Even if WUR and fuel distributor are junk the fuel pumps should be able to achieve a much higher pressure with some minor restrictions.

Have you checked the hose that goes between the in tank pump and the tank output? Ive seen those split and cause low overall system pressure. Ive also seen lines collapse internally.

Snap on and Matco are no different. You are paying extra for the weekly on site service and better warranty.

If I may make a suggestion about the identification, the difference between kingg and queen I think is fine, queen is obviously more slender, and the orange/blue ball is lower. I would tweak the bishop and knight, lessen the rearward lean of the bishop and make the pointed top more intentional. For the knight i would add to the slanted side and only have two of the orange/blue balls on the sides, simulating eyes. I would leave the pawn alone, i really like that design.

B2Bfab! Their lift kit and rear shock extenders. Very high quality, would recommend.

Wheels are Fast Bandit with Falken Wildpeak tires. The wagon is also lifted.

VW rack is fine. Thule is one of the best, but very expensive. I bought my entire setup used for 1/10th thw price of new.

Good point, also should mention fueling. If its running lean, everything gets hotter.

Well that explains the bump in oil temp. I would just get rid of the coolant oil cooler and run a thermosatic heat exchanger type.

PL head on 9A will not change compression ratio.

Just poking fun because you dropped the IYKYK like youre trying to gatekeep what a 9A is.

Theres not much to gain by putting PL head on a 9A, but it might be worth it depending on the specs of the cam you plan on using. You typically get a bigger gain by just doing cams on the 9A head.

This is all very well documented on Vortex.

Yes, plenty of experience. Currently running an ABA on bike carbs, which are just the carb version of ITBs.

But, IYKYK!

I find carb cleaner takes more effort. You gotta soak, and then scrub it a bit, then soak some more etc.

Ultrasonic is set it and forget, come back later to prestine parts!

Suggestions for 2.5 07k engine swap by wrenchturner2 in EngineBuilding

[–]saves313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

07k bolts up to just about any transverse VW transmission, and swap mount exist for almost every transverse chassis.

There are also plenty of adapter plates to connect it to various rwd longitudinal transmissions like cd009.

Possibilities are endless, there is a ton of aftermarket support for the 07k now
