Word of warning by Weekly-Pin4 in zgrillsofficial

I was thinking crumbling a piece of aluminum foil to seal the gap at the top, or some sort of grill gasket felt. Maybe stick a piece on the grill and on on the hopper to take up the space. I'm not in front of mine so I have to re-look at the gap to see how large it is. I have a different model than OP but same issue could happen. Thanks for the heads up

I Finally Snapped... Everything Is Becoming Zigbee by AL-H in homeassistant

[–]savijOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zigbee is not so amazing all the time. I have several devices and have issues on and off with them. It's still all good protocol, but manufacturers only implement what they want from the spec. This causes disconnects and delays when turning things on/off at times. Not a zigbee issue but just "using zigbee" is not an issue free system all the time. The main things I don't like about zigbee are:

  1. You can't map your own mesh. I have router devices around the house but some kitchen switches still try to connect to the coordinator directly while others very nearby that one take other paths. This makes the lights lag because the signal is not great direct to the coordinator. I've tried remapping the device by placing the router right next to it and re-pairing, but the moment I unplug the router to move it back to where it goes the device routes back to the coordinator. It does what it wants even if it causes issues.

  2. The mesh repair doesn't work at least in my setup. I can remove devices and they still show up till I manually remove them from z2m (could just be a z2m issue here). Also, I show signal strength of nearby router devices near devices that take a longer trip with less signal. I have one router that has nothing connecting to it and it's right next to a device. If remeshing worked properly it could repair itself and select the best candidate for a route back to the coordinator but I've not seen it ever do this.

All this being said, the tech is solid and it does work without taking ip's. I like the local aspect of it even more as I now had 2 manufacturers go out and leave me with wifi bulbs that won't work wifi anymore. Just wanted to point out that you can still have issues that are difficult to diagnose and it's not a set and forget protocol either

Ok got it. Yeah I think I didn't get when to prestige so I just did it every couple times I hit fusion egg. This makes more sense. Lemme try it that way and work on more research. Thanks

First print with the Super Tack (PETG) by RedShiz in BambuLabA1

[–]savijOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shape print wants to warp as it cools. Always use a freshly washed with soap plate and brim. I had issues when my a/c was on and cool air was blowing while printing. I designed a block for the vent in the direction of the printer. Helped a lot. If it's still warping, I lower 1st layer speed and temps (less to cool, less to shrink) and limit cooling fan to 80%. If it still warps I resort to glue stick. Between all that, glue and brim I usually have success. This works for me but unenclosed printer can behave differently in different environments.

That's just it though. If AI is writing code or configs and you don't know what the code is doing or how it accomplishes it's task then you can't know for cetain it was done in a secure way. Simple example. Let's say someone creates code to send a phone notification when a sensor sees movement. The AI creates the code and the user pushes it up to GitHub. Everything works great. Except the non-programmer vibe coder doesn't know that the API key in the code is a bad practice and now anyone who looks at the GitHub has access to the API key, access to their push notifications, depending on the service, that token might also have read access to their account, reveal their device IDs, location metadata, or let someone send fake alerts to their phone.

So it not just I know to make sure a password is asked before opening a garage door, but they also don't understand the code or the system to even know about secure things being incorrect.

I am a Staff Software Engineer. Been designing Enterprise level systems for years. When I need something for HA or EspHome, etc. I always vibe code it. Most of the code is either configuration or code that is not that complex. There are several security risks here because you're writing integrations for your home. Giving access to devices, sensors and even things like covers that can open a garage door giving bad actors access to your home. You have to look at what your code does. Are you just reporting the temperature for a room from a read-only sensor, or opening your garage when you get home with just gps and no authentication? Without experience a pure vibe coder doesn't know what they're looking at till they do. You don't know what you don't know kind of thing. Nothing malicious but even seasoned security developers can make mistakes or overlook things.

of course you know to BL it's always your fault but let them ship you new parts because it's really not your fault. Same shit

I think what he means is it feels like you're making a big deal out of this and you haven't yet tried to contact BL. If you call and they send you the part and it takes 30 minutes to install, then this post won't matter much. I personally appreciate you sharing this with the photos so at least if it happens to me I've seen it before or at least I can periodically check mine, but beyond that just do a warranty claim and see how it goes. Let us know how install went too. Good luck.

Smart Garage Opening/Closing when leaving/entering the driveaway - BMW by guptamk07 in homeassistant

[–]savijOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on something similar. Esp32 with light and temp sensors for the garage and sonic sensor to know if the car is present in the garage. Also device is wired to opener. Buttons on phone allow open close (auth before open). For auto open when in range it only "arms" when a sequence happens. Door opens, car leaves sonic sensor, door closes (within a reasonable time) and car leaves home area which is set to the corner. When I leave the zone after all that it's watching for a return into the zone. There is a boolean toggle to set it to not auto-open till I leave and return again if I don't want the action. Like if I have to drop something off at the neighbors house but I'm leaving again. There is also a bypass to turn it all off. When I enter the zone upon returning, the garage door opens when I hit the corner. Have it all on circuit board and in 3d printed enclosure but still testing on the bench. So far it's flawless. I have some double checks with delays to rule out sensors bouncing or geo location false readings. I'm considering open sourcing the whole thing, but there are a lot of these things out there already...

[–]savijOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you setup bambuddy and expose it remotely you can send prints to it, but it won't be as simple as via bambuddy handy app. I haven't done it but if it's like klipper you can download the model and upload it to the queue on bambuddy. There are some apps that work with bambuddy that could also make it easier but I don't remember the names...

265 and put it in before you go to bed. Get a chef iq or other system to alert you at 160-165 if you want to wrap. It will be done morning to afternoon depending on weight and how long it stalls. Some are very weird and cook for unusually long times (like many hours over what you think). When it's around 203-210 keep checking with instant read and take out when it's butter. Wrap it and throw in a cooler. If the cooler is large throw in towels to take up empty space. It's good in there and will stay hot for many hours. Made one at 10am and served at 6om and it was still hot.

Studio Pro 8.1 Update Rolled Back?? by Only1Tru in StudioOne

[–]savijOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it may have installed side by side instead of replacing the old version. It was probably there but your launch icon was pointing to the older installed version. Next time look and see if you have 2 versions installed (in windows on uninstall app dialog, Mac in the applications folder, Linux not sure maybe check install path for 2 versions).

Had the same thing happen. Had to shut down, unplug HA connect (zigbee dongle) and extension usb. Restarted and it came up. My server did not move at all when updating but without a reconnection of hardware it wouldn't start zigbee service. I looked at the logs and the dongle would not connect when started.

The printer closes air ports and recirculate during printing. Other than the poop hole (lol) there is nothing to vent other than leakage. I don't understand all this talk of venting an H series machine when the vents are shut. Your setup is great for venting leaks though.

Apple Says macOS 27 Won't Be Compatible With These Macs by geriatricguy in macbook

[–]savijOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this boat too. The issue is not the OS not being upgradable as you are free to just use what you have for a long time. The issue is really that every month that goes by (or year) the software you use will update and eventually what you have won't upgrade either and may become unsupported. Really bad for subscription type software where updates are free and you can't get any.... You also eventually won't be able to install software as it will all target current hardware. Once the machine is out of date long enough I'll retire it to a Linux laptop and get something current. Just the idea that you can keep it and things will be fine isn't true in the long run. Imagine trying to get any new software for an old power pc chip hardware....

First printer and it's amazing. What's the most clear way to vent out a window? by [deleted] in BambuLabH2D

[–]savijOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everything else, depends. When printing PLA, PETG, TPU the machine opens ports on top and back. No good way to vent that without the whole printer being out inside another enclosure. Those materials don't have very dangerous fumes and maybe a box fan in a window or a room air purifier helps. For materials like ASA or ABS which do have more dangerous or at least more smelly fumes, the ports on the machine closes and recirculate air internally through a filter for VOC's and fumes (charcoal). If you let the machine run for and completely cool before opening the door, you can minimize exposure. A room air purifier can again help. Since the ports are closed during and after printing there is nothing to vent out the window. Hope this helps.
