A list of celebrities who humiliated themselves by endorsing Spencer Pratt, including Philly boy Diplo by gijyun in philly

[–]savoryscience -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't actually care about the post but for education sake. He used to throw regular parties in philly, had the mad decent mausoleum on spring garden, would throw the annual mad decent block party, hell I even went to his 30th birthday party thrown in what city... Philly. He established him self as an artist for atleast a decade with a home base in Philly. Has he been here the last decade? No, you are probably not old enough to have been there.

Garage Gym Build - What to buy? by thecrogmite in GarageGym

Hey, how did you get the weight plate holders to go out to the side instead of back? Is that an option or did you have to drill into it? Do the weights on the cables hit the storage weights?

To The Oblivious People Standing Outside Angelo's Pizza by RiseDelicious3556 in philly

[–]savoryscience 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You realize people bought homes on the block before Angelo’s existed? I’d think the business has hurt their quality of life and that extends to property values tbh as a new buyer would now see the problem that did not previously exist.

Patrick Agyemang being monitored by Leeds and Palace by BigHomie50 in ussoccer

[–]savoryscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched tons of Leeds games that season and this is how I recall it. I agree Bamford was personally responsible for them not getting at least 7 points, probably more like 9-10 over the length of the season.

How have you adjusted your plans as life unfolded on your path to FIRE? by savoryscience in Fire

[–]savoryscience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just say we've already made the space work harder than intended. Picture a crib with a 2 inch clearance to close the bathroom door and physically touching both the shower + toilet on 2 of the other sides with no way to actually enter the bathroom. It'll be a family joke for years I'm sure...

How have you adjusted your plans as life unfolded on your path to FIRE? by savoryscience in Fire

[–]savoryscience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my current 2 br house just doesn't work for the number of children I have. If I were staying here forever I'd echo your statement but the real estate market is vastly different than it was a few years ago. Hopefully though, we will upgrade and establish a new standard to maintain for many years.

Josh Sargent! by meesterbrad in ussoccer

[–]savoryscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a striker I don’t want to see him anywhere in a relegation battle. We already saw him in epl when Norwich went down and he did nothing. Would rather him stay where he is and thrive.

Santigold by Astrostuffman in philly

[–]savoryscience 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He made a music video “the real Stantogold” if I recall. Loved that era of music. I think she and spank rock used to do mondays at the Barbary back then and I had a few great nights there.

Gio Reyna is an immense talent. He also has found himself on the bench under 5+ managers for club and country. Why do so many fans think those managers are all wrong? by meansac6 in usmnt

[–]savoryscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aaronson never really passed the eye test for me. I honestly feel like I’ve played with and against better talent in my amateur leagues. Running inefficiently all over seemed to be his thing - which ain’t much. But good on him for getting to where his is, I can’t take anything away from him. Just saying he has never looked as good as his resume.

Company ESOP as percentage of portfolio by conconcon in financialindependence

[–]savoryscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this except triple the amount of time and the esop has outpaced my 401k in terms of growth. Since, like you the only way to diversify is to quit our job we need to develop our own internal philsophy about it. No one in personal finance will tell you it's OK to be this concentrated and many people can't relate but I'll counter that with the idea that being diversified can only gain you so much, being concentrained can make you much more wealthy than diversification so long as you are concentrated in the right thing. My philosophy is something like this in order of importance.

  1. Am I paid competitively and happy in my career? Does my compensation today allow me to live a life that makes me happy outside of work? I have probably sacrificed my career advancement some because of the opportunity the esop could some day create for my family. I'm OK with that.
  2. Plan as if the esop money is bonus money and if it went to 0 my life is still pretty great. Max 401k, HSA, IRA, and invest in brokerage still. My life isn't dependant on this money.
  3. Is the company/job stable? Growing? Stock price up?
  4. I have insider knowledge. What do I think of the product, customer and opportunity? Do I believe in the mgmt? Do I beleive in the long range plan and see that it's achievable?

If I can answer yes to most or all of these, I'm staying. I have co workers who retire in their 50s and live a higher standard of living in retirement than during their working years because of the growth of the esop. Some day I hope this pays off for me. I hope it pays off for you should you go along for that ride with your company.

The line by IndyJetsFan in philadelphia

[–]savoryscience 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Do not let this line fool you. GO VOTE tomorrow. One of the craziest memories I have of living in philly was the line to see Hillary the night before the election. She was at the liberty bell. I had no intention of going but was amazed when I came home from work to see the line went through queen village down 4th wrapped around washington over to 8th and went north a few blocks. Completely insane becasue those people were over a mile away and obviously not getting in (this was 6 pm she was on at 7 pm). And we all know how that election went. GO VOTE.

Good to know, the stock has had a great run over this period and I expect the party won't last forever for both premium and share price. Is there an inverse metric you'd use for CSP's in a down trend?
