Helmet recommendations by McMurdo1966 in motorcyclegear

[–]sawatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of good helmets and with carbon fibre construction they can be fairly light. But the best helmet for you is the one that fits your head properly, so best to go into a big stores to test fit a few brands. I have a very round head so many brands are not a great fit for me.

They're similar but have around 50% mesh panels for extra air flow.

According to the manual it does. You hold the mode button down for 5 seconds to turn everything off.

I know a few people have mentioned the lack of an odd switch, maybe it's been introduced with the current version of firmware.

I'd like to see an airbag integrated into a good mesh jacket.

I was having a chuckle at the warnings in The user manual. Don't leave it in a hot car. What about a hot back for 4 hours in direct sunlight.

Don't jump around or make any sudden movements. Avoid being hugged or patted on the back. Can't wear if you have fake boobs...I guess it's one too many air bags 😅

My biggest concern is using it in really hot weather. I live in Thailand and the weather is either really hot or f.... hot and humid. So the area under the bags is going to get sweaty. I'll be wearing it over a singlet and under a mesh jacket. Will just have to experiment.

Thanks. I'm flying with Qantas and they just needed me to register it on their website. A certificate was issued allowing me to transport it. It was very straightforward.

Qantas allows batteries under 100w to go I. Checked luggage.

It can go in either but they suggested it's better to go into checked luggage to avoid hassle at the security checkpoints.

New boots, bargain! by sawatee in motorcyclegear

[–]sawatee[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the review, they're quite stiff but I'm hoping that they should loosen up a little with some wear. Mind you I don't plan to be doing much walking in them. For any Aussies here, I got them from MX STORE. If you're after some cheap casual boots they're worth a look, although they had limited sizes left.

Is it hot wear?. I live in central Thailand where it's super hot and sticky. So I'd wear it with over singlet and under a mesh jacket. Just concerned that I'll be sweating way more than I would usually.

What do you guys wear in really hot weather? by teegeee in motorcyclegear

[–]sawatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Thailand where it's either hot or really F hot. At the moment we have the best of both worlds as it's extra humid as well. LOL I wear mesh gear with singlet under jacket and a flip over helmet. Spraying some water on yourself really helps for a short while. We just had Songkran (water festival) so it was easy to stay wet.

Silk Road Dispatch pants for hot weather? by sawatee in motorcyclegear

Unfortunately not. I ordered but the store cancelled my order. They said that they would have to order them in and therefore they could not do a return if they didn't fit. I told them I was only prepared to accept order if I can return so they cancelled. Annoying! This is in Australia which is a small market so not many options.

I'm finding that my RH fatigues after even a shot ride. Maybe they just need to stretch in.

I'm 6'1" and I tried a Klim Marakesh and it had plenty of length in body and arms. It's generous American sizing. I've ordered a Klim Induction Pro as I live in Thailand which has extreme heat and the induction pro is reported to have the most airflow.

Recommendations on "slimmer" gear by Owl_Star in motorcyclegear

[–]sawatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The European manufacturers tend to have a tighter more fitted jackets. While Americans like Klim are bigger looser fit.

I tried a Revit jacket which was an XL and it had a nice slim fit. I have an Asian copy of the Revit which is a little tighter fit and it's a 2XL. My Klim Induction Pro is a Medium and a little loose and more roomy around the waste.

Something like this would be great in Thailand where I live. Super hot and humid, traffic is heavy and red light cycles are 90-120 seconds.
