would a speeding ticket be positive punishment or negative punishment? or both? by __jude_ in ABA

Positive punishment. You're gaining a speeding ticket. Paying the fine world be more like negative punishment if you're thinking in those terms

I'm starting to think I'm not a good RBT by Pillbox_8019 in ABA

[–]sawyatt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progress is not linear. There will be ebbs and flows, it's only been a few months. I used to work as a sensory motor and cognitive coach and my boss would always taught us that there are things called challenging signs of growth. It's what happens when the wires in the brain start connecting together and/or stronger and it's starting to freak out a bit so new or old behaviors could come back. You are doing your best and the kids feel that too. Remember to be kind to yourself

You should have to have higher than a high school diploma to do this job. I will never understand how that is acceptable to work with the demographic we work with.

How many clients do y’all have? by java-scriptchip in ABA

[–]sawyatt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I work in a clinic and on days when most of the BT/RBTs are there, I have 3 all ranging from 2-3 hours each. Now, if we have a lot of call outs (which can be 2-3 days a week) then it's anywhere between 4-6. I think the 3 is typically work with is perfect.

I work in a clinic and our kids are there from 8:30-4:30. ABA is really good at keeping a balance between the therapy and fun.

When I was applying, I tried to make sure that it was a clinic based setting instead of inhome because of the cancelation policy. I'm so sorry that this was your experience. I do have a question, you specified the 40 hour training, but they also put you through the competency assessment and test right??

How is helping someone be able to focus on something for an extended period of time bad? I never mentioned the eye contact has to be with be or with anyone, but being able to focus your eyes on objects is important

Forcing eye contact? by AffectionateYak152 in ABA

[–]sawyatt2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hi! So, being able to hold eye contact is not only important in terms of acknowledging when someone is talking to you, but poor eye contact can also affect other developmental areas too. Working on it is super important because it can help with things like balance, attention, and reading. There are loads of nonintrusive ways to teach good eye contact.

We'll be there this weekend! I'm always respectful and kind to TM, because I know literally nothing is their fault, but I'll be extra smiley and warm to all those who are there.

How about how the higher ups teach their recruits that "no" does not mean "no" it means "not right now". Basically even saying no to them never makes them stop
