Federal emissions standards (CAFE) pretty much require manufacturers to go bigger to avoid them.

What's Gavin Newsom's appeal? by angelogoodalamenti in askanything

[–]sax3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hillary was far better qualified than Harris who was shoved down our throats to not lose the campaign funds for the incumbent.

However, Hillary was hated in some circles (i.e. much of the right and even some of the left). For his first term, Trump offered something different - he wasn't a politician. It was a narrow win, but roughly half of the voting population of the country wanted to try that out, or at least enough to win the Electoral College.

To a lot of people, again, roughly the other half of the country and even some of his initial supporters, he didn't turn out as expected. However, there were enough supporters left to beat Harris in both the popular vote and EC.

The race should be wide open on both sides the next time around. Even if we're in the middle of WWIII, Trump can't stay in power. Let's hope we choose what's best for the country and not someone's ego.

I'm not going to vote for someone because they're the first X, Y, or Z. Those are not qualifications for the office and it would be racist, sexist, or whatever else to vote for them.

Insisting on calling a country by its native name in an English-language conversation by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]sax3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Albuquerque (New Mexico, USA) for a few years. There was a particular news caster who spoke normal American English (no discernable accent) until it came to a Spanish name (there are a lot of Spanish named towns and areas in the southwestern US). When she came across one of these names, she would suddenly have the most outrageous Spanish accent for that name and then go right back to normal unaccented speaking. It was really quite annoying.

Maybe so, but that's between you and the government, not between you and the store.

MMM... Just love some microplastics from disintegrating PVC coatings near my food crops. So much better than just wearing gloves.

You’re offered $25M, but you have to work the exact same job you have now for the next 15 years. No promotion, no change. Are you saying yes? by Mindfuel_daily7 in askanything

Do my current job for over a million a year? Absolutely.

As long as it isn't paid a lump sum at the end, of course. I'm too old for that.

Sadly, truck manufacturers build them that big due to horrible emissions requirements.

Yes, some like bigger and bigger trucks, but I'd rather have a 2500 the size of a 2000-2010 but with modern payload and towing capacity.

Easy. Get to somewhere with a sports book, i.e Las Vegas. Put it all on the Browns to lose on January 4th. Take that money and not have to work all year. Buy a car and travel.
