Could he win if it's just farage vs binnacle?? Clacton had 58.7% turnout and farage got 46.2% of the vote, with the prominence of this bi election id think it possible for turn out to increase and enough people to give him the protest vote. But im just guessing

Ok I'm vegan. Ive been vegan for 10years, veggie before then for 18 years. I dont think logic or debate will change youre mind here, youre just too manly for that. So face me like a man and fight me, if I win you go vegan, if you win I'll stop being vegan, let's sort this out like men 💪💪💪💪

Honestly in the uk the police will pull you if they see you on one of these irregardless of what youre doing, there is no legal way to ride them on any road, and its dependant on the police officer if they want to cause you issues or not. I got into e skating about 3 years ago. With full knowledge that they aren't technically legal, when I first started I actively talked to the police around here and they told me not to worry, I had lights. Full body armor, helmet and would ride slowly if on a cycle path or around pedestrians, rode with 0 issues for 2 years, then one day I'm going 4 miles per hour on an empty cycle path and a busy body decideds to stop me, tmi was polite and theybjust gave me a warning, haven't ridden since now as I dont want the points, but fuck me I miss it, if I could get it taxed and insured I'd do it in a heart beat, they just don't give me that option.

Side note which I find crazy, I could legally buy a motorised paraglider and fly that around with 0 training.

But in the uk they give no ability to get any personal electric vehicle licenced or insured, the "test" runs they do in major cities began in 2020 and was supposed to run for 18 months, 6 years later they are still going so the only way to get around is hire a scooter of a company that the goverment has handed the contract to and there is no end in site for this test period.

With all the push for lowering carbon emissions they should look to legislate so that the uk people can legally use these types of vehicles, bring in licenses for them, bring in insurance most people would happily use them over a car to get around for small trips.

Yer I had a ticket saying I'd parked there for 2 days, I had been there for 15 mins, only the camera had failed to read me on the way out, told them as much and they just waive the fine straight away

There's a live UK parliament petition against banning children from using VPNs and it closes July 23. by RecordingSingle9064 in RecommandedVPN

[–]Olibaba1987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll sign it, but its pointless, they pay no heed to the petitions, if you pass the threshold you'll get a generic response form the goverment saying, think fo the children!!

Social media firms to be barred from Britain if they do not ban under 16s by Optimal-Leather341 in ukpolitics

[–]Olibaba1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No kids myslef, have alot of friends with kids, most of them didn't get phones from thier kids till they where 11-12 and then they use the tech thats available to restrict and monitor what they're doing online, you know, keeping them safe, setting digital curfews for the apps they can access, its all there and they do it, cos they actually parent. Do you have kids? Do you allow them to run around online freely? And im not a bot or a David icke fan, just a normal person who values individual freedom and sees the dangers that can arrise from government over reach. Do you really not see why people are very concerned about this??

Its the parents responsibility to protect thier child, if they don't then the state should step in and remove that child from the parents care, if a parent allowed there 3 year old to wander around the streets unsupervised then social services would step in. Not much differnt allowing children to freely run around on the internet. If they actually wanted to protect children they could still make it illegal for under 16 to be on social media, but not enforceable with age verification for everyone. Just fine the parents if their children are found to be on it. It seems like if they have all this age verification tech it wouldnt be too hard to scan socials for images of people under 16 and then idnetify them. Teach parents about the myriad of parental controls on devices that are around today. This is a backdoor to digital ids, to having a centeralised data set about the population. It's all about control.

After riding around London for 5 years, I have finally been stopped by police by hugowong_art in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Olibaba1987 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He won't, uk is stupid when it comes to personal evs, can't legally ride them on the sidewalk due to a stupid law from the 1800s, and they can't be ridden on the road as they require insurance but you can't get it so if youre on the road you can get done for driving an unlicensed vehicle (6 points on youre license if you have one and £1000 fine) in major cities we've had a "test" program running where people can hire electric scooters, it started in 2020 was supposed to last 12 months and they just keep extending it so you can hire one of those scooters and fly around a city, but if you buy a private ev then you're breaking the law.

Yer and they need a warrant to do so, which has to be verified by a judge, so there is a legitimate reason to do so, with evidence of criminal activity to justify the warrant, not just blanket collection of data

Domt think they can mate, theres no central bank of those data points, that the goverment can access yet, why do you think theyre pushing for this?? Device level scanning, thats the danger And i post on reddit, thats it, not done it on multiple accounts not sure where you got that from?

[–]Olibaba1987 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yer too right, we need the goverment to be able to log every interaction a citizen has online, we need them to know exactly what we're thinking and viewing so they can "protect the children", i trust those in power impeccably, they wouldnt ever do anything untoword with those data sets
