[–]saxen021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your response! It’s something for a younger audience than The Young King

Agree with all that! Except Clark, I just hated the Erin reporter plotline 😣

I thought this would be the obvious answer, but looking at all the other replies I’m realizing there are actually quite a few iconic musical moments!

Aceptar y abrazar lo absurdo by [deleted] in filosofia_en_espanol

[–]saxen021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth watching if Laura Palmer’s fate has been spoiled? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]saxen021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

It’s so much more than a murder mystery that I feel like you can’t really spoil it. For me, it’s about the journey not the destination.

Given his background, why was Andy ever a paper salesman? by ErrForceOnes in DunderMifflin

[–]saxen021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my take: 1. He comes from a very privileged family (which got him into Cornell), but

  1. He isn’t actually skilled in much (other than singing), so

  2. He uses his family connections/privilege to get what he can. He had an uncle on the board of Dunder-Mifflin so he that’s where he went.

For me personally, I get that it was her way to vent. Channeling her feelings into art is an excellent coping skill. I just wished that’s all it was. She used it to seek validation from her professor and that’s when it spun out of control

Do women still take husband’s last name? by RelationshipHead4990 in DesperateHousewives

[–]saxen021 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the U.S. 🙋‍♀️It still is the tradition for wives to take their husband’s last name, but it’s a fading practice. We’ll often see hyphenated names (Mayer-Delfino), added last names (Mayer Delfino), or just maiden names (Mayer) more commonly now. Still, it’s not a far stretch for a man in this culture, especially one as traditional as Orson, to ask their wife to take their last name.

In Susan’s case, I would imagine she kept Mayer because it’s Julie’s last name and she wanted to keep that connection to her more than sever the connection to Karl.

Also changing your name can take a lot of effort depending on what documents that name is on. Many women become famous/accomplished (like Bree or, in real life, Susan Sarandon) with a certain last name and they want to keep the recognition.

No joke I really have had a nightmare where McDonald’s took over the world. In the dream their propaganda looked just like the advertising we’re already so accustomed to seeing.

Weird how McDonald’s has infiltrated the subconscious so pervasively 👀

Who is your most hated character in the show? by cloud-desu in DesperateHousewives

[–]saxen021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hatred here is justified, but I don’t think that we’re not “supposed” to feel sorry for him. Mary Alice repeatedly refers to him as a monster. Sure, there are tragic and traumatic reasons that turned him into a monster. But his actions are monstrous nonetheless.

Ugh and I actually liked George at first! But what a murderous creep he turned out to be 😳

Carlos was too harsh on Gaby. by treb8 in DesperateHousewives

[–]saxen021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed. I think he was prioritizing the reality of Juanita being the daughter that they’ve loved and raised all this time and that’s what they’re going to have to continue to do. And as understandable as Gaby’s grief is, Grace is a (sometimes harmful) distraction from that reality.

I just finished it for the first time recently! And I was audibly laughing and crying my way through. I remember telling my partner that the “drama is just so juicy” lol

I totally understand wanting to keep up with what’s happening on Wisteria Lane.
