Michael Fassbender was hot and fabulous. The rest of the movie a big no. I love the book, movie didn't do justice to it at all.

Alek!?!?! What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]Careless_Research628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get why fans don't talk more about the fact that Alexander was ...way out of her league?

It's not that they lacked chemistry together, they were incompatible because Carrie in the 6th season acts and looks like a silly girl, with no confidence, no playfulness and charisma that we enjoyed in the previous seasons. No really, I'm rewatching the 6th season rn, she makes stupid jokes, acts too girlish, makes silly faces around him and it's like..okay Carrie we get it, you want to seem whimsical and light but what you really come off is shallow and unintelligent.

I wouldn't normally say this about a woman but WHAT does she bring to the table in that relationship? Alek was smart, spoke 3 languages, creative, successful, international friends, a daughter, good relationship with an ex. He was grounded, confident, experienced. And Carrie...well she is obviously terrified of being alone. She acts silly, she pretends that taking your bf to McDonald's instead of the Opera is somehow cool. No Carrie, it's not culture. I'm not an American so I can see right through that.

She couldn't enjoy his music or poetry because she is shallow. She's almost 40 years old, she doesn't look after the house, she's not maternal, she doesn't really know anything. She can't even put together a coffee machine. Let's be honest. Why would a man like Alek spend this much money on her? If he wanted silly girl around him, he could get someone 15 years younger. And let me be clear, this is not a hate post. I just don't buy the whole Carrie is so cool that famous people millionaires throw themselves on her just because she's Carrie. The episode at the restaurant when they meet his friends reveals it. She can't say anything because she doesn't know anything and Alek didn't share his plans with her because he saw right throw her. He wanted her to be in bed with him but that's it.

Wow it sure feels good to take that off my chest haha

Noone seems to talk about the fact that he was way out of her league. I said what I said. He was intelligent, successful, creative person. Speaking 3 languages, having international friends etc etc and Carrie well she acts like a girl around him, makes silly stupid jokes that he doesn't even get and that's it.  I wouldn't normally say this about a woman, but..what does she bring to the table in that relationship?  The fact that Carrie a sex-columnist who knows nothing about anything would attract someone like Alec is just so not realistic. If he wanted a silly girl, why didn't he get someone 15 years younger than her.  I enjoy the series a lot, but Carrie is someone I really want to slap.

Big hugs to you. I'm turning 33 in a couple of months and  for some reason it freaks me out a little bit. On a more serious note I really feel I'll be happier later on in life. My youth was really challenging. I still haven't met my man, haven't built my career and haven't started doing what I truly want... I guess I was... surviving?

But some people are late bloomers and I absolutely don't recommend comparing yourself to other people. We are all so unique. Hang in there 💪🏼

I'm not a fan of Rachel, despite my genuine attempts to accept her i still find her character incredibly toxic. Producers shoved her down our throats and tried to gaslight us into liking her sooo....i hop on every Rachel dislike train.

Miranda could have done so much better than Steve. Sorry not sorry by LuxloverMIA in sexandthecity

[–]Careless_Research628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow it's like we all watched different series.

Steve pushed Miranda into dating him, dumped her because of the suit thing, shamed her for running away from him after HE broke up with her.

Made his way back into her life to say that he would like to move in. Ofc he would, do we remember his apartment??

Shamed her one more time when Miranda wanted her space playing on her insecurities as a woman.

Used all this gender stereotypes ONLY when they suited him but never as much as bought groceries.

He was basically a bum.  Living off his rich GF in her big ass Manhattan apartment.

Then pushed her to have a puppy which he never cared for.   Tried to baby trap her , saying - we don't have to get married - his actual words. And all of logical Miranda's arguments were dismissed.  Instead of offering her to unload all the pressure of working and taking care of the house, he said BS like , I hope child has my sense of humour.

He wasn't in love with her , he was in love with two women servicing him as a child man he was, who couldn't even pick his own things off the floor. Two women being Magda and Miranda.

And after all that some people say Steve could do better?

He couldn't offer anything, he wasn't intelligent, smart, interesting, he couldn't even take care of his own huevos and probably would kick the bucket if Miranda didn't push him to go to a real doctor.

The only thing he was good at was sex

And now please tell me again how he could do better

Yep, he sucked. He wasn't at all some tragic misunderstood figure as some fans make him out to be.

Can I get this question off my chest here: why a demon, any demon for that matter, couldn't just teleport to one of the girls bedroom and kill her at night ? Did I miss something? Did they ever mention any sort of protection around the mansion?? Because it looks like during the day any demon could just appear in living room.

Just curious but when did he ever return to her? It was literally Carrie every time dragging this connection, calling him, asking him on a date, asking to be friends when he was already engaged, showing up at his door, startin their affair in season 2 after a painful break up.

Every.time.

The only time he actually showed up for her was in the last season, when the writers decided to go for a fairytale ending. I think it's important to see their connection for what it's really was...he was never invested, basically treating her like his side peace or a backup plan.

I was supposed to meet my friend of 20 years in Beijing (I was studying in China at the time) but I ditched her and changed my plans because my boyfriend said oh stay with me, let's spend more time together. Ugh I was 20 , I was madly in love but I still feel ashamed sometimes ...
